The Cook County Curling Club is very excited about the start of the new season and hopes that community members take this opportunity to learn more about the sport. Curler Joanne Smith encourages people to come learn about curling, a lifetime sport.

Smith notes that curling isn’t just about being on the ice, it’s about strategy. And for those interested in the physical benefits of curling, Smith added, “You would have walked a mile without even realizing it!”

“Curling may be just what you are looking for,” said Smith.

The Curling Club starts its season this week and welcomes all past and present members to join a team. There will be a potluck fun night on Monday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Curling Club/ Community Center. There will be registration for leagues and assistance in setting up teams. Plus, people can practice and get a feel for the ice.

The Curling Club plans on Open League play on Monday and Tuesday evenings, starting October 24 and Mixed League starting on Wednesday, October 26.

If you want more information or are interested in joining the club, contact Smith at (218) 387-2052 or Bill Parish at (218) 387-2382 or visit the Curling Club’s new website: www.cookcountycurlingclub.com.
