Curling club hosts Halloween bonspiel





Curlers came from near and far to take part in the annual fun-filled Halloween Cook County Curling Club Bonspiel. While everyone had a good time, there was also some serious curling that went on. Pictured above are members of the runner-up Zoe Meisinger rink from Duluth.

Curlers came from near and far to take part in the annual fun-filled Halloween Cook County Curling Club Bonspiel. While everyone had a good time, there was also some serious curling that went on. Pictured above are members of the runner-up Zoe Meisinger rink from Duluth.

The Cook County Curling Club held its 6th Annual Open Halloween Bonspiel was held on Oct. 29 and 30 with eight teams competing in a round-robin format. The club is always happy to see its returning guests from the St. Paul Curling Club, Duluth Curling Club, Superior Curling Club and Two Harbors Curling Club come and play in this bonspiel. Everyone enjoys the camaraderie and social interaction, plus some good curling, too.

The Curt Severson Rink from St. Paul Curling Club won the “A” event and Zoe Meisinger rink from Duluth Curling Club were the runners-up. The winners of the “B” event were the Phil Devore rink from Superior Curling Club with Bob Spry rink as the runners-up.

Coldwell Banker from Grand Marais sponsored prize money for the best team and individual in costume, for the costume contest. Julie Smith rink from St. Paul Curling Club won the team prize and Phil Devore from Superior Curling Club won the individual award.
