The Cook County Curling Club held its 5th Annual Open Halloween Bonspiel this past weekend with eight teams competing in a round robin format. The club is always happy to see returning guests from the St. Paul Curling Club and Duluth Curling Club. This year we were happy to have two teams from the Two Harbors Curling Club join in the fun. Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie and social interaction, plus some good curling, too.

In addition, our guests also enjoyed competing for best dressed individual and team costume contest with prize money donated by our local Coldwell Banker owner Virginia Palmer. Best dressed individual costume winner was Karen Futterer dressed as Michael Jackson and the best dressed team were the Kay Libby team from Two Harbors Curling Club as the “Loofa Girls.” Rory Smith won the “Throw to the Button” with a frozen pumpkin.

The Rory Smith rink from the Cook County Curling Club won the “A” Event and Bob Hedstrom rink from St. Paul Curling Club were runner-up. The winners of the “B” Event were the Julie Smith rink from St. Paul Curling Club and the Scott Scheirbeck rink from Duluth Curling Club being runner-up.
