Cook County Cub Scout Pack 167 traveled to the International Wolf Center in Ely for a day of adventure on Saturday, December 13.
Den leaders and parents accompanied the Cub Scouts as they participated in Wolf 101 and Northwoods Ecology 101. Bear Den Leader Sara Hadley said the day included the making of a plaster cast of a wolf paw print, a camouflage activity, and a habitat conservation activity.
Scouts were able to visit the interesting exhibits, and Hadley said, “We got to see four wolves close up. It was fantastic!”
From taking part in the trip to Ely, the Scouts earned their wildlife conservation pins and belt loops.
Hadley added thanks to the North Shore Collaborative for giving Cub Scouts Pack 167 the opportunity to take the scouts to the International Wolf Center in Ely. The Northshore Collaborative awarded a grant that made the trek to Ely possible.
“It was an amazing experience, and the boys leaned a lot, not just about wolves, but about conservation, habitats, and the ecology of our area.
“I am so grateful that the collaborative made all of this possible. This is a great organization, and we are so happy you are here. I can’t thank you enough for this amazing opportunity,” said Hadley.
