Winter’s arrival was a blessing to some, a curse to others. One individual couldn’t wait to don his cross country skis and get out on the new snow that fell on the Gunflint Hills golf course on Friday, November 9. Unfortunately, a bad fall resulted in the skier needing medical assistance. The North Shore Health ambulance was called, but the skier was too far away for the ambulance workers to reach him. So the Cook County Search & Rescue was called to get the subject to the road where the ambulance was waiting. The skier, in his sixties, was transferred to North Shore Health for treatment.
