Cases of COVID-19 continue to infect residences of Cook County at a high rate. Over a recent seven-day period there was a report of 53 new cases which brings the count to 1,290 from the start of the pandemic.
As of August 18, the CDC COVID-19 Data Tracker listed Cook County as having a “high” level of COVID-19 cases in the community. According to the county website new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population (7-day total) are calculated using data from August 11, 2022, to August 17, 2022. New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population for the seven-day total and percent of inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients over a seven-day average are calculated using data from Wednesday August 10, 2022, through August 16, 2022.
Reported cases include over the counter antigen positive tests that are reported to either Cook County Health and Human Services and Grand Portage Health Services. These positive home overthe counter antigen tests are not reported to the Minnesota Department of Health, so the state data and county data are different.
Cook County has 2,497 folks who are up to date on their vaccinations. This is a term the Minnesota Health Department began using March of 2022 for vaccination reporting for people who have received all COVID-19 shots depending on their age and underlying health conditions.
