A shipment of 500 KN-95 respirators, urgently needed to protect healthcare workers from COVID- 19, arrived in Grand Marais on Wednesday, April 15. This was the first time Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has arrived in the U.S. through the Grand Portage border crossing.
“It took a tremendous amount of cooperation, goodwill, and coordination to get these respirators here,” said Frank and Cindy Imsdahl Ceo, owners of Ningbo Green PPE, the company, which is distributing the respirators.
“They traveled from China to Japan to Anchorage to Memphis to Winnipeg to Thunder Bay to Duluth to Grand Marais,” they said.
These 500 KN-95 respirators will be donated to healthcare workers and other volunteers and employees who are doing essential work in keeping our community healthy and safe.
This first shipment is testing this new supply route. It will be followed shortly by an additional 4,000, and then pallets of 25,000 as needed.
