Like the visitor who shows up at your house and won’t go away, COVID-19 seems like it’s here to stay.
Cook County has topped the 1,000 mark in COVID-19 cases, reaching 1036 since the start of the pandemic. That number was released by Cook County Public Health and Human Services on June 2. Weekly numbers are tabulated and released every Thursday, and the prior week there was 28 reported cases occurring in the county.
Of the roughly 5,600 Cook County residents, 3,190 are up to date on their vaccinations.
Case totals reported by Cook County Public Health and Human Services include over-the-counter antigen positive results released by Cook County PHHS and Grand Portage Health Services. Not all of the over-the counter test results are reported so weekly and cumulative totals are an undercount of actual cases in the county.
As of June 2, 2022, the state of Minnesota has reported 1,513,760 positive cases of COVID-19, and 12,649 deaths attributed to coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. Cook County has four deaths attributed to COVID-19.
