As of Tuesday, December 1, fifteen people tested positive for COVID-19 over the last six days in Cook County.
That brings the total county coronavirus case count to 78 since the beginning of the pandemic.
More alarmingly, the number was 18 at the end of October, so the surge in new positive coronavirus diagnoses has been startling.
There was a wide range in the age of the people who tested positive this past week. Eight were females, one in her 80’s, two in their 50’s, two in their 40’s, one in her 30’s, and two in 20’s. Four of the men were in their 40s, one in his 30’s, one in his 20’s and a minor.
So far the county hasn’t experienced any deaths related to COVID-19. But that hasn’t been the case for the rest of the Northland. On Friday, November 27, 14 people died, seven who lived in St. Louis County. Across the state, the Minnesota Department of Health recorded 101 new deaths on November 27, a new one-day record for Minnesota, a record that hopefully won’t be beaten.
