In 2011, Grand Marais Fusion opened its doors, offering nutriious and tasty shakes—and an occasional weight loss challenge. The proprietors of the club that serves up healthy teas and shakes such as French vanilla cappuccino, chocolate caramel cheesecake or banana split, have announced a new challenge for the New Year.
Grand Marais Fusion is run by Paul and Kristin (Bursack) Norlander and Jack Bursack of Duluth and Carl and Beth (Larson) Foster of Grand Marais. They are excited about this latest challenge, which, according to Carl Foster will not only offer the opportunity to lose weight and feel great, but also the chance to win “big cash!”
Grand Marais Fusion is looking for at least 50 entrants for the weight loss challenge. The entry fee is $35. “The top three achievers split the cash,” said Foster. “You do the math!”
Anyone who joins the wellness challenge will receive the support that past participants have come to expect—time with a wellness coach who will track your weight, body fat percentage, lean body mass, and metabolic rate from month to month and recommend how many calories and how much protein to eat each day to reach a healthy fitness level. There is also a lot of social networking and discussion of topics such as eating out, the importance of water intake, and healthy recipes.
That social element is important, Norlander told the Cook County News-Herald last October. Norlander said people stop by Fusion and enjoy it like a coffee shop. “This is a tool we’re trying to bring to the community,” he said.
The contest is co-sponsored by Grand Marais Fusion, Threads, Lake Superior Trading Post, Upper Shore Center for Athletics and Fitness, and Superior North Outdoor Center.
