As the tension mounts whether Cook County Attorney Tim Scannell will resign, be paid or be charged in the ongoing Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigation, a great opportunity exists for something positive to come out of this scandal.
Our elected officials in the big concrete building could give our citizenry hope and some light at the end of the tunnel. We shouldn’t even have to ask them to make some sort of attempt to insure all of us that accountability still exists and that this type of fiasco will never happen again.
By enacting a moral code or some sort of equivalent for all county elected officials and employees, they would be giving us some relief they are actually representing a majority of their constituents. Would any elected official or county employee disagree with accepting that their civil servant position comes with a moral code agreement, after what this county has been through the past three months? Probably only one…
