On a busy Friday August 26, the signs went up fast at some areas businesses: “Cash or check only. We don’t have access to the internet to accept credit card payments.” And for those patrons who didn’t have cash or a checkbook on them, the businesses wrote down credit card numbers so the bill could be run when the service was up and running.

The county lost its phone and broadband service sometime around 11:30 a.m. on Friday when a fiber line was interrupted in Lake County.

It was not our fiber, and I am not sure exactly who hit it yet. We are waiting for more information.” Service was restored at 5:15 p.m. on a backup connection. On Facebook Arrowhead Broadband announced that there might be a brief outage again later that Friday evening, but businesses were able to process credit cards through the evening and the phones worked.
