It appears that Chuck Schmit has not even tried to get to the truth of this matter. In his May 23 letter to the editor, he stated that I used or directed county equipment to be used for personal reasons. This is false.
An allegation was made in April 2014. This caused an investigation to be completed in May of 2014 by the county engineer and the assistant county engineer. All allegations were found to be without merit.
Then a complaint was made that the investigation was unfair and needed to be done by an outside investigator. The county board approved hiring an outside investigator and the second investigation was completed in May of 2015. This investigation found these same allegations to be without merit and clearly stated that no equipment had been requested for use to personally benefit any county employee.
I don’t know what “commissioners” said to Mr. Schmit but the fact remains that county equipment was not used for personal benefit of any county employees and reimbursement is not necessary.
