County board hires some new staff, fills a board position



At the county board’s August 13 meeting the commissioners filled some jobs that were open.

Commissioners voted unanimously to hire Pamela Dixon as the county’ new Human Resources Generalist.

Pamela replaces Judy Hill, who resigned earlier this summer.

Michael Keyport was hired to replace Valerie Marasco Eliasen as the county’s new Emergency Management Director. Valerie left to take the executive director position at the North Shore Health Care Foundation.

Michael will start his new position September 9.

The board accepted the resignation of Shawn Swearingen as highway maintenance worker III and approved posting the position to fill the vacancy.

Shane Steele was selected to fill the District 2 vacancy on the County Parks & Trails Commission.

A veterans service (VSO) operational grant for up to $7,500 was accepted. The grant requires no matching funds and must be used to provide outreach to the county’s veterans; to assist in reintegration of combat veterans into society; to collaborate with other social l agencies, educational institutions, etc.
