Cook County News Herald

Correction:

The February 16 article entitled Concerns raised over county gravel pit near Maple Hill Cemetery states that Jeff Nemitz contacted the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) about his concerns regarding a breach in an erosion-control berm and that the MPCA then directed the Cook County Highway Department to submit a plan of action to remedy it. Nemitz actually emailed a letter to the county board through County Board Secretary Janet Simonen and copied the letter to Steve Persons of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Persons then contacted the MPCA and informed Nemitz that he had done so.
