The February 4 article entitled County board debates demolition landfill proposal states that a mistake in designating the boundaries of the Closed Landfill Program resulted in R&R Disposal being unable to obtain a permit to locate a transfer station at the site. According to Cook County Planning & Zoning Director Tim Nelson, R&R Disposal did, in fact, have a permit to operate a transfer station but not a landfill at the site. R&R Disposal could also operate a slash disposal site there as the county did previously, Nelson told the News-Herald. The News- Herald apologizes for the error.
