Cora “Corky” Elizabeth Stevens, 88, of Grand Portage, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Cook County North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais.
She was born July 16, 1929 to Jessie and Matilda (Drouillard) Robertson in Grand Marais. Corky grew up and attended school in Duluth. She attended the University of Minnesota while living in St. Paul for the next three years.
Corky married Henry “Steve” Stevens in Carson City, Nevada on September 27, 1966. They were stationed and lived in many different places, including Subic Bay, Philippines where Cora was awarded Navy Wife of the Year, before settling in Signal Hill, California, where Corky owned a tax and financial consulting firm in Redondo Beach. They moved to Grand Portage in 1989.
Corky is a member of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, was a member of the Grand Marais American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, and the Society of Tax Consultants.
She enjoyed painting and knitting.
Corky is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and a brother, Jack Robertson.
Corky is survived in death by daughter Michelle “Brandy” (Scott) Fraser of Two Harbors; son Patrick Tousignant of Chino, Calif.; grandchildren Michael (Tania) Eberle of Santa Clarita, Calif., Briana (Tony) Gallaway of Clearfield, Utah, and Jordan Tousignant; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Michael, and Dominic Eberle, and J.R. Fraser; many nieces and nephews; also Four on the Floor Mikee Joe.
Visitation was held Tuesday, October 17 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Portage. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. To sign the online guestbook please go to www.cavallinfuneralhome.com
