Coordinator needed for “Hoopin’ in the Harbor”

One of the standard events at Fisherman’s Picnic is in danger of not happening this year because the Grand Marais Lions Club can’t find a coordinator for the “Hoopin’ in the Harbor” 3-on-3 basketball games and 3-point shooting contest.

The fast-paced action, filled with teams and players of all skill levels, has been a crowd favorite since 1995. It was started by Deb White with the Kids Plus program to promote a healthy and fun activity at Fisherman’s Picnic. Others have taken turns at running the event—Jason Lynch and TJ Super.

There is never a shortage of people who want to sign up and play. But who will organize brackets and find referees for this oneday of mad hoops fun?

If someone wants to step up and take on the challenge of running “Hoopin’ in the Harbor” on Saturday, August 1, please contact Lion Harry Peterson at 387- 1478.
