On a cold, windy homecoming night that kept a lot of fans away, the CCHS Vikings slammed the door shut on the Northeast Ranger football team, winning 52-0.

The game was never in doubt as the Vikings scored in the first few minutes of the game over the smaller, winless Rangers. At the end of the first period it was 22-0 and 30-0 at halftime.

If the Rangers had any thoughts about getting back into the ball game, they were quickly erased in the opening minutes of the third quarter.

Shedding tacklers, Aram Falter took the second half kick-off all of the way to the Rangers’ 30-yard line before he was stopped. Penalties kept the Vikings from advancing the ball, and the Vikings turned the ball over to the Rangers at the Rangers’ 32. Three failed passing attempts by the Rangers led to a punt, which Falter brought back to the Rangers’ 31-yard line. On the Vikings’ next series, Aram ran nine yards, and the Vikings’ quarterback, Adam Dorr, carried 22 yards to score. The two-point conversion was good, and the score was 38-0, which brought a sigh of relief from shivering fans.

Minnesota high school rules allow for the game clock to run in the fourth quarter if one team leads by 36 points or more, and both coaches agree to let the clock run. The game clock ran the whole fourth quarter.

Masen McKeever would catch a 26-yard pass for a touchdown with 6:31 to play in the third quarter, and Adam would run in the two-point conversion. Aram Falter scored off a 26-yard run late in the third quarter, and Kole Anderson ran in for the two-point conversion.

Much to the delight of the remaining fans, midway through the fourth quarter Anthony Wiele intercepted a pass and scampered 53 yards for a TD. That was the last score in the game.

Aram Falter had his biggest game yet, statistically speaking. He carried 26 times and gained 201 yards, scoring two touchdowns and running for two, two-point conversions. Aram averaged 7.7 yards per carry with a long run of 27 yards.

Adam Dorr rushed 12 times for 74 yards, scoring two touchdowns and running for two, two-point conversions. Adam averaged 6.2 yards per carry.

Jonathan Huskey carried three times for 13 yards, a 4.3-yard average, and Masen McKeever ran twice for nine yards, a 4.5 average. Freshman Kole Anderson also carried the rock three times for six yards.

Northeast Range ran the ball 20 times to gain 25 yards, a 1.3 yard per carry average.

Altogether, the Vikings gained 303 yards on 46 carries netting 6.6 yards per carry.

Despite the wind, Adam threw 16 times, completing five passes for 118 yards for two touchdowns. Masen McKeever caught four balls for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Porter caught one pass for 14 yards.

Finding some success on offense, Northeast Range passed six times, completing three to gain 77 yards through the air.

The Vikings ended their night with 406 yards of offense compared to 102 for Northeast Range.

One area of concern was the eight penalties called against the Vikings for a loss of 75 yards. Northeast Range was flagged three times for 25 yards.

For the second week in a row, Isaiah Deschampe led Cook County in tackles with six. Two were tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Isaiah finished with 12 tackles in the game against Silver Bay.

Keenan Hingos and Adam Dorr also had six tackles, Vaughn Swindlehurst and Kole Anderson five, Masen McKeever four, Aram Falter three, Jonathan Huskey two, Payton Morrison two, Jacob Dorr one, Jordan Porter one, Patrick Pierre one, Devon Premo one, and Danny Deschampe one

The Vikings finished their season on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Cromwell. A win would give them three on the season and a better spot in the playoffs.
