The Outdoor Adventure Expo was held at Midwest Mountaineering in Minneapolis on April 26 – 28 and staff members from the Cook County Visitors Bureau (CCVB) were there to represent our tourism community.
The Expo also provides an opportunity to network with other groups such as the Boundary Waters Advisory Committee, spearheaded by Martin Kubik, which works to protect and restore hiking trails in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Kubik is a well-known visitor to Cook County, along with crews of volunteers who clear trails such as the Border Route and Kekekabic Trails.
The 56th biennial Outdoor Expo featured over 100 exhibitors such as outdoor gear manufacturers, resorts, environmental and outdoor groups and more than 120 free outdoor adventure presentations. Kubik was pleased to see that there were several presenters giving talks about Border Route, Kekekabic, Eagle Mountain and Brule Lake trails and the Superior Hiking Trail.
CCVB Executive Director Sally Nankivell said, “The CCVB is proud to attend this event to represent our Cook County tourism communities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with those who love our area and are regular visitors; those who haven’t visited in a while, but after talking with us are excited to return; and those who have never traveled here, but who end up intrigued and are well on the way to planning their visit once leaving our booth,” she said.
