The younger ball players took the field right after the Babe Ruth teams finished play. Cook County jumped to a 4-0 first inning lead and it held up for a 4-2 win over the Taconite VFW teams.
Patrick Pierre took the win for the Vikings. He pitched four strong innings, striking out six, walking two, and giving up two hits and two runs before being relieved by Jacob Dorr. Jacob gave up two hits, struck out one and walked one in two innings. Derek Smith pitched the seventh inning and didn’t give up a run or a hit.
The glove friendly Vikings didn’t make an error in the field while Taconite finished with four errors.
Isaiah Deschampe went one for two at the plate, driving in two runs. Kole Anderson was one for three with one RBI and DJ Seidel was one for two with a walk and scored a run.
The Vikings ended with three hits and Taconite four hits.
