The Vikings senior legion team led 1-0 after one inning of play in their match against Moose Lake/ Barnum (MLB) played on Thursday, June 15 at home. However, after two scoreless innings the Vikings added a run and MLB pushed two runs across the plate to tie the game.
Neither team scored in the fifth or sixth as the pitcher’s dual kept the bats of both teams fairly silent. That said, MLG scored three runs in the seventh and the VI; kings couldn’t score to lose 5-2 in a great game.
Jake Stadler pitched the entire game for the Vikings. He gave up five hits, five runs, walked two and struck out seven. MLB’s pitcher also threw a complete game. He allowed three hits, two runs, walked two and struck out four.
Both teams committed one error.
Hunter Gomez was 1-1 at the plate. Jake Stadler was 1-2 with an RBI and T. MacGillivray was 1-3 with an RBI.
MLB’s first basemen J Steen was 2-3 with an RBI to lead his team.
Jr. Legion team loses lead, game
The JR Legion CC/SB team took a 4-1 lead in the first and added a run in the second to lead 5-1 in their game against the Jr Legion team from Moose Lake/ Barnum.
The MLB team scored two in the third, two in the fourth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh while holding the Vikings to just one more run in the seventh. The Vikings lost 11-6.
Hunter Gomez, Jacob Carpenter, Jake Mixdorf, R Shannon and T. MacGillivray each had one hit for the Vikings.
Amos Falter started and threw 4.2 innings before being relieved by C. Smith. Amos allowed two hits, five runs, walked seven and struck out ten. Smith gave up seven hits, six runs, walked one and struck out three.
The Vikings committed four errors to one for MLB.
