Cook County Sheriff’s Office reveals shooting victim’s name




The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the victim
in the shooting occurred at approximately 12:12 a.m., on December 9 at
Bluefin Bay in Tofte. The victim was Marcus Lee Roberts, age 35 from
Bloomington, Minnesota. Roberts was at the Bluefin Bay Resort in
conjunction with a gaming company hired by the resort for entertainment
at a holiday party. An autopsy is being conducted by the St. Louis
County Medical Examiner’s office.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

According to the preliminary report from the Sheriff’s Office,
several individuals stepped outside of an employee Christmas party being
held at the resort. At some point, the man suspected of the crime, Kirk
Lee Bigby, age 61 of Finland Minnesota, came into physical contact with
the victim. The suspect then allegedly produced a handgun and shot the
victim.

Bigby has been booked into the Cook County Jail on the charge of 2nd
degree murder. He will be arraigned on December 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the
Cook County courthouse.
