The Cook County Recycling Center will resume full operations beginning July 1. This will include the reopening of the Budget Shop.
The Recycling Center had set limited temporary hours and the Budget Shop had closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning Thursday, July 1, hours for the Recycling Center’s materials drop-off garage will be: *Monday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. *Tuesday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. *Wednesday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. *Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. *Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. *Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Recycling Center will remain closed for afterhours drop-off since it will now be open six days a week and will also have extended hours on Thursdays.
Beginning Thursday, July 1 (through Saturday, October 23),
The Budget Shop will be open: *Monday through Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. *Saturdays, 9 a.m. -1 p.m.
Although people may have collected materials during the closure of the Budget Shop, Cook County staff request that donations be brought in smaller loads over time to give the staff adequate time to sort through items.
“The patience of the Recycling Center and Budget Shop’s patrons and donors is greatly appreciated,” Cook County Land Services Director Tim Nelson said.
The Recycling Center and Budget Shop facilities will continue to be monitored 24 hours a day with surveillance cameras to minimize prohibited afterhours dumping. Dumping materials and garbage have been a problem in the past.
