Cook County parcels among 12 offered for sale by DNR

This forest road traverses one of the parcels of land in Cook County to be sold by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This 40-acre parcel is located approximately 10 miles northwest of Hovland.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will offer 12 parcels of land for sale at public auction May 30 at 11 a.m. in the DNR’s central office, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.

Parcels are located in the northern portion of the state including Aitkin, Crow Wing, Cook, Hubbard and St. Louis counties. While some parcels have been offered before, values are reflecting the change in the real estate market and may be at lower prices than previously offered.

Cook County parcels include:

. A 40-acre parcel located approximately 10 miles northwest of Hovland. This parcel is slightly sloped with Mons Creek running through the northern section of the parcel. Lost Lake Road cuts through the southern portion of this parcel, offering easy access. This parcel is wooded with a variety of poplar and balsam trees. This parcel may have recreational and development opportunities. Minimum bid is $67,605.

. A 21.89-acre parcel located approximately four miles north of downtown Grand Marais and just minutes from Devil Track Lake and the airport. Pine Mountain Road, a gravel U.S. Forest Service road, cuts through the parcel from the southwest to the northeast (this road is not plowed in the winter). This parcel is heavily wooded with mature birch, poplar and pine trees and is generally level in topography, with an elevation change of 40 to 50 feet from the northeast corner to the southwest corner. This parcel has recreational opportunities, including the construction of one or two cabins. Minimum bid is $70,150.

. A 22.13-acre parcel located approximately four miles north of downtown Grand Marais and just minutes from Devil Track Lake and the airport.
