Cook County nonprofits receive $22,736 in grants


The Cook County Community Fund recently announced eight grants totaling $22,736 to local nonprofits for community-based improvements and projects proposed during the fund’s most recent grant round.

The organizations that received grants, their funding levels and projects are: . Care Partners of Cook County, $3,000 for the Dementia Capable Service project, which provides support and training or programs and assisting local people with dementia. . Cooperation Station received $4,500 to promote equality of access and opportunities for children in daycare as well as cooperation among daycare providers. . Grand Marais Arts Inc., was given $4,500 for the Community Art Access Entry Point programs, which promote access to the arts for young people. . Grand Marais Evangelical Free Church received $2,800 for the Choices and Voices project, which identifies local issues and opportunities and seeks solutions. . The Gunflint Trail Historical Society was gifted $1,000 to update the Chik-Wauk Museum, a longstanding community asset at the end of the Gunflint Trail. . Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest received $1,000 to bring the organization’s programs to young people in Grand Marais. . The Cook County North Shore Health Care Foundation was given $4,500 for the Oral Health Task Force to provide additional support and educational support and education to meet increased community interest. . North Shore Music Association received $1,436 for the Borealis Chorale and Orchestra Winter Concert, a community activity.
