Cook County Law Enforcement report will be unavailable

A favorite readers column will be unavailable for the foreseeable future.

The Cook County Law Enforcement report will not be printed for the foreseeable future because, as Sheriff Pat Eliasen said, “Due to upcoming staffing shortages and increased workload being placed upon existing staff, we will not be able to disseminate the call log. The time it takes to search for the call notes on many requests is not a luxury we have currently. I am sorry if this causes any disappointment, but it is a change we must make to continue serving the entire county. I can make any records available by request if you have certain calls that you would like to inquire about, according to Chapter 13 of the Minnesota code. Staffing shortages are really kicking our butt.”

Hopefully, the Sherriff’s office will be able to recruit enough employees to make their job more manageable. Until then, we would like to thank the Sheriff and his staff for their timely work and for providing the law enforcement report to our readers for as long as they have.
