Monday, March 28
11:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck on Highway 61. The
vehicle was drivable, no tow needed.
12:49 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
13-year-old boy with a shoulder injury.
1:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck at mile marker 123.
1:31 p.m., Lutsen: Theft of services (skiing without passes)
reported at the ski hill.
2:29 p.m., Tofte: Caller said she has been receiving calls from
someone with a foreign accent who yells, saying she owes
money, and they’ll be sending the cops to collect.
3:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone is dumping
garbage in the hospital Dumpster. There is a suspect.
4:08 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a
man, 28, with an open lower leg fracture.
7:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Injured deer at mile marker 93.
Referred to State Patrol.
7:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to speak with
the driver of a semi who was parked about 6 feet from a sign
posted “No Truck Parking.”
Tuesday, March 29
3:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 66, cited for
speeding.
5:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance requested at a hotel,
where a man intentionally stabbed himself in the arm with
scissors.
11:04 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy was called to check the
area behind the library, where a caller said she could hear
a muffled female voice that sounds distressed, and also a
pounding noise. Nothing was found.
Wednesday, March 30
8:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that someone was
dumping cat poop along Devil Track Road, and it happens
every year around this time.
9:59 a.m. Grand Marais: Deputy requested to settle a
dispute involving threats between two male juveniles. It was
determined to be a school issue.
3:23 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a mobile home that was
broken down and blocking part of the highway near the
county line. Referred to State Patrol.
4:23 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
9-year-old boy with a possibly broken leg.
4:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and seriously injured
near Gunnar’s. A deputy dispatched the animal.
6:44 p.m., Schroeder: Deer struck east of Taconite Harbor. It
ran into the woods.
Thursday, March 31
1:32 p.m., Colvill: Injured deer near mile marker 118. A
conservation officer responded.
7:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to pick up a loose
dog and take it to the pound. The owner was notified.
Friday, April 1
11:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint that a man has been
coming in at the person’s work late at night, knowing that the
party is alone, and making sexual comments.
5:55 p.m., Colvill: Vehicle fire at mile marker 118. The
occupants were out of the vehicle.
6:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm at a downtown
business.
Saturday, April 2
12:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Anonymous call about an underage
drinking party at a residence. A deputy went to the house and
found nothing suspicious. The homeowner was upstairs in
bed, and went downstairs and found two girls in the kitchen
making ramen noodles.
6:12 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested at Caribou Highlands,
where an eviction was to be done.
7:45 a.m., Lutsen: Break-in reported at the resort’s swimming
pool. There was broken glass, and a person passed out by the
pool.
11:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that her vehicle was
hit and dented in the parking lot across from Blue Water Café.
The person who did it left a note.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario woman, 24, cited for
speeding.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 57, cited for
speeding.
2:44 p.m., Lutsen: Caller reported that an Ontario vehicle was
driving unsafely eastbound from Lutsen. A deputy stopped
the suspect, but observed good driving.
3:03 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a disabled vehicle in the
eastbound lane of West Highway 61 near Ski Hill Road,
partially blocking traffic.
7:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an injured deer trying
to crawl away west of Wedgewood Motel. The deer was
dispatched.
Sunday, April 3
9:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a neighbor
cut down two fir trees to allow satellite TV installation. The
person said he would plant new trees in the spring, but the
caller wanted it noted in case he does not follow through.
1:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Overturned vehicle in the ditch near
mile marker 148. The occupant was getting out of it without
assistance.
3:22 p.m., Tofte: A tree fell on a power line, blowing the
transformer and creating a power outage.
7:07 p.m., Hovland: Complaint about somebody plowing a
pile of snow into the middle of North Road.
9:25 p.m., Grand Marais: A man asked that a deputy come to
his home to speak with him regarding the fact that his wife
wants him out of the house. She is not at home now, but wants
him out before she returns.
10:44 p.m., Hovland: Vehicle into the ditch just east of the
Hovland fire hall. There were no injuries and the vehicle was
towed and taken to the owners in Grand Portage.
