Monday, March 21
7:07 a.m., Tofte: Complaint about
possible trespassing.
11:20 a.m., Colvill: Thunder Bay man,
78, cited for following too closely.
11:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay
man, 22, cited for speeding.
12:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of
harassment and threats being made.
A caller also said a woman with a
suspended license was driving around
the area.
5:52 p.m., Grand Marais: A driver fell
asleep and went into the ditch, taking
out a sign and almost hitting another
vehicle, which was also in the ditch. No
injuries.
8:47 p.m., Hovland: Deer struck by a
vehicle near Judge Magney State Park.
The deer ran off into the woods, but the
vehicle was damaged.
Tuesday, March 22
5:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported that her 16-year-old daughter
was not in her bed when she got up this
morning, but she may be at a friend’s
house. The mother said she was not
sure what to do.
6:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
overloaded truck on Cutoff Road. The
driver was spoken to the previous day
about the road bans.
12:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Brooklyn
Center woman, 23, cited for speeding.
5:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay
man, 43, cited for speeding.
6:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage
reported on County Road 48.
7:22 p.m., Tofte: Game warden called
to report that people who were hired
to clean out a foreclosed property on
Snowshoe Trail discovered marijuana
plants inside the residence. A trooper
and deputy also responded.
8:24 p.m., Grand Marais: A 21-yearold woman was arrested for domestic
assault and booked into jail following
an altercation with her stepfather that
left the man with a lump on his head
and a bite that broke the skin on his
hand.
11:08 p.m., Colvill: Power outage
reported.
Wednesday, March 23
6:31 a.m., Grand Marais: An injured
deer was seen in the middle of County
Road 67. A deputy went out to look for
it, but was unable to find it.
11:48 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy
spoke with the driver of a vehicle
who was traveling erratically on the
highway.
2:28 p.m., Hovland: Caller reported
that there was a broken window at the
old Flute Reed dance hall building,
and a curtain was blowing in and out.
A deputy checked the property and
discovered that the window was open,
but not broken, and closed it.
3:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
stolen wallet from the Birch Terrace.
The owner said she believes she knows
who took it.
10:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay
woman, 18, cited for speeding.
Thursday, March 24
12:26 p.m., Grand Portage: The Army
Reserve Center in Duluth requested a
welfare check on a soldier who hadn’t
been heard from in a while, and they
were concerned about his welfare. A
deputy found that he was most likely
not in Grand Portage (where he lives),
but in Duluth.
1:35 p.m., Grand Marais: A welfare
check was done on a woman who
expressed a desire to be dead. She was
found to be okay.
Friday, March 25
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: The school
reported that six heavy-dose overthe counter cold pills were found on a
school bus.
8:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Probation
violation observed by a deputy.
Saturday, March 26
12:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay
man, 18, cited for speeding.
1:32 a.m., Grand Portage: Welfare
check requested on a man who was
tearing the house apart looking for
his bank card, which he believed was
stolen. He told the deputy he was not,
in fact, going to kill himself as he had
claimed earlier. The bank was contacted
about the missing card.
2:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assistance requested by a woman
who was kicked out of her house and
needed to go back and retrieve some of
her stuff.
4:45 p.m., Schroeder: Report of an
injured deer standing on the highway
at Taconite Harbor. It had been hit by a
vehicle, and every time it tries to walk,
it falls down.
5:23 p.m., Colvill: Thunder Bay man,
19, cited for speeding.
7:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage
reported on Sobanja Lane.
7:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck
and killed near mile marker 95.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of six
gunshots or Roman candles on Third
Avenue West. All was quiet when a
deputy checked the area.
Sunday, March 27
1:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais
woman, 40, arrested for DWI.
1:08 p.m., Colvill: Two gunshots
reported on Gauthier Road. A deputy
spoke with the person, who said it was
just target practice.
1:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported
theft of a wallet from Birch Terrace.
5:29 p.m., Lutsen: Injured deer reported
on the highway in front of Solbakken.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog
complaint.
