Monday, Feb. 21
10:34 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a
17-year-old male with a back injury.
12:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern about a
young boy, 4 or 5, who was walking on the highway near North
House Folk School. The caller said he stopped to ask the boy
where he was going, but the boy wouldn’t tell him, and headed
toward Birch Terrace. A deputy checked the area but didn’t see
the boy.
2:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a ramp used to drive
a forklift into semi trailers from behind Gene’s Foods. The theft
occurred sometime during the past two weeks.
3:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Officer requested to remove a 16-yearold daughter from the residence. A deputy took her to another
residence to spend the night.
5:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch at the intersection
of Gunflint Trail and Gunflint Lake Road.
Tuesday, Feb. 22
7:01 a.m., Schroeder: Deer frozen to the highway in the eastbound lane near Sugarloaf Cove. MnDOT notified.
9:01 a.m., Grand Marais: California man, 55, cited for speeding.
9:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 18, cited for speeding. 12:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 43, cited for
speeding.
12:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 27, cited for
speeding.
1:28 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a woman,
20, with a hip injury.
2:30 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy talked with the owner of
a vehicle that was parked on Highway 61 and Second Avenue
West for some time. The vehicle will be moved.
6:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called to Holiday for a
young female who fainted.
11:06 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy checked on a reported underage
drinking party at Eagle Ridge, but found nothing loud or disorderly. Wednesday, Feb. 23
2:09 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle in the ditch near Isak Hansen’s.
6:00 p.m., Tofte: Deputy requested to check for a juvenile runaway from Bethany who may be hiding out in Tofte.
6:37 p.m., Tofte: Deer struck and killed near Cascade.
Thursday, Feb. 24
9:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle rolled several times on Devil
Track Road, about a half-mile east of the general store. The
driver got out of the vehicle on her own and said she wasn’t hurt.
3:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle pulled from the ditch at the
intersection of Shoe Lake and Greenwood Lake roads.
3:56 p.m., Grand Marais: People snowmobiling on Cascade
Beach Road.
6:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a log in the highway near
Caribou River.
8:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Tofte man, 35, arrested for possession
of marijuana.
Friday, Feb. 25
9:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man cited for speeding.
10:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Fender-bender in the post office
parking lot.
8:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Assistance requested with changing a
flat tire.
9:30 p.m., Lutsen: Bloomington man, 24, cited for open container in a vehicle.
Saturday, Feb. 26
8:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 73, cited for speeding. 9:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Deerwood woman, 47, cited for speeding. 10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Hopkins woman, 27, cited for speeding. 11:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 49, cited for
speeding.
2:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario man, 40, cited for speeding.
2:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Snowmobile accident reported on the
state trail near Windigo. Two injuries reported; both victims
were taken by Life Flight to Duluth.
5:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that snowmobilers drove on
and wrecked about a mile of ski trails at Bally Creek.
Sunday, Feb. 27
1:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near mile marker
128. No injuries reported.
1:31 p.m., Grand Portage: An officer was able to open the locked
door of a pick-up truck. A 1-month-old child was locked inside.
2:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle rolled into the ditch on the
Gunflint Trail near Haug’s Bend.
2:50 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a man,
56, with a head injury and short-term memory loss.
4:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Two women snowshoers who were
reported as overdue by 1 ½ hours at Cascade Lodge were located
at 5:05 p.m.
