Monday, Feb. 14
7:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Wallet found on the snowmobile trail
in the Esther-Chester Lake area. The owner was contacted.
1:03 p.m., Lutsen: Saginaw man, 27, cited for driving after
revocation and no proof of insurance.
5:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported threat at the school.
Tuesday, Feb. 15
7:43 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a school bus passed him
at excessive speed, and he caught up with it and clocked it at 70
mph.
Wednesday, Feb. 16
10:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an erratic driver on Devil
Track Road.
11:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said it looks like a
snowmobile hit his mailbox.
4:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 61, cited for
expired registration.
6:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Cell phone found at the sliding hill.
6:27 p.m., Grand Marais: MnDOT notified that the stoplight
was not functioning. It will be fixed the next day.
Thursday, Feb. 17
12:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Warrant issued for a resident for
failure to appear on a charge of no personal flotation device.
1:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Warrant issued for a resident for
failure to appear on a charge of no watercraft registration.
1:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Warrant issued for a resident for
failure to appear on four commercial vehicle regulation
violations.
8:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Hand-held radio found on the
Gunflint Trail just south of Trail Center.
7:03 p.m., Lutsen: Deer struck and killed on the highway near
Lockport.
8:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Warrant issued for a Canadian man
for failure to appear on a traffic citation for careless driving.
8:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Warrant issued for a Thunder Bay
man for failure to appear on a citation for open bottle.
9:00 p.m., Colvill: Caller reported that there were lights on and
activity at a vacant house. It was some people there cleaning for
a showing.
9:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Resident of Grand Marais
Apartments said he heard a loud noise, like someone threw
something at the building. He asked that a deputy check out
the building for damage in the morning.
10:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he picked a red trunk
cover off the road. It was believed it fell off a truck pulling a
trailer with car parts.
Friday, Feb. 18
12:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an erratic driver
eastbound on the highway from Lake County.
8:15 a.m., Grand Portage: Theft of 24 Lortabs reported from a
residence. Other meds in the drawer were not taken.
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Three drivers were cited for
speeding.
12:49 p.m., Tofte: Snowmobile accident reported on the state
trail. A 43-year-old woman hit a tree and possibly broke her
hip. She was transported to Duluth by ambulance.
3:04 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported that her car slid into
a cement pillar at the Trading Post, causing scratches and dents
in the vehicle.
Saturday, Feb. 19
7:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Power problem reported at an Old
Shore Road residence. PUC notified.
7:59 a.m., Tofte: Suspicious vehicle seen in a parking lot on
Johannes Lane.
1:16 p.m., Grand Marais: A car parked on First Avenue West
near the highway was hit and damaged by another vehicle. The
front bumper appeared ready to fall off.
2:25 p.m., Grand Marais: The driver of a vehicle discovered in
the ditch near mile marker 74 was taken to the hospital after it
was determined he was suffering from a medical problem.
3:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed at mile marker
91. A tow truck was needed for the vehicle.
3:12 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
37-year-old man with head injuries.
4:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Gunflint Lake Road.
4:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Brooklyn Park woman, 26, cited for
speeding.
Sunday, Feb. 20
8:44 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to remove a
person who was intoxicated and trashing the house. The man
left before deputies arrived.
10:59 a.m., Schroeder: Assistance requested to rescue a woman
who was stuck in the ditch near the Toohey Lake campground.
It was determined that the road is not plowed, but groomed for
snowmobile use. A family of snowmobilers came by and dug
her out, and she went about another mile east before getting
stuck again. Nelsons were notified and took a trail groomer
and another sled to find her.
11:16 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a
17-year-old with a back injury.
11:54 a.m., Tofte: Tree on the power line behind Surfside. REA
notified.
1:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 32, cited for
speeding.
3:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an erratic driver going up
the Gunflint Trail.
4:43 p.m., Grand Portage: The ambulance and fire company
were called to a chimney fire at a Highway 61 residence.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off reported.
6:44 p.m., Grand Marais: A person was taken to detox after
being asked to leave a residence following a domestic dispute.
