purse containing credit cards and ID out
on the ski trail.
4:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Minneapolis
man, 26, cited for speeding.
Tuesday, Feb. 1
1:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by
vehicle.
8:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle
accident in front of Buck’s. No injuries.
1:36 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported
missing items from her residence.
7:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Transformer on
fire in the alley near 217 W. First Street.
No flames when a deputy arrived.
Wednesday, Feb. 2
8:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Female husky,
lost and cold, found at a residence on
First Avenue West. The dog was taken to
the pound and the owner contacted.
10:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay
man, 58, cited for speeding.
12:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Mangy coyote
seen on the Lindskog Road. It was
determined to be a wolf that had been hit
by a car, lying in the ditch and breathing
hard, but not moving. A deputy was
authorized to dispatch it when a game
warden couldn’t be located.
6:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that some guy named Tommy kicked in
his door. He said he doesn’t know the
guy, or why he kicked his door in.
Thursday, Feb. 3
12:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy struck
the mirror of his patrol vehicle on the
sally port door.
1:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported
misuse of prescription drugs. Under
investigation.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
backed out of the sally port and struck a
Trooper’s vehicle.
8:09 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy
requested by Customs after a suspect was
stopped with 22 pounds of marijuana.
Friday, Feb. 4
9:11 a.m., Lutsen: Injured deer reported
in the ditch near the Cascade State Park
entrance.
12:30 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested
at the ski hill for a man, 21, with stomach
injuries.
1:10 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle towed from
Mink Ranch Road because it was parked
blocking traffic, and the snow plow
couldn’t get through.
3:22 p.m., Lutsen: Duluth man, 29,
cited for theft of services after he was
caught using his brother’s pass at Lutsen
Mountains.
4:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal dumping
investigation.
5:09 p.m., Grand Portage: Burglar alarm
at the Wellness Center. The building was
found to be secure.
5:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle
accident on County Road 7 near the
school. No injuries reported.
6:43 p.m., Lutsen: Lost snowshoer was
located on the Oberg Loop.
Saturday, Feb. 5
1:58 a.m., Grand Portage: Complaint of
loud arguing from an apartment at Bay
Estates. All was quiet when a deputy
arrived.
8:57 a.m., Schroeder: Dangerous road
conditions reported on the highway.
MnDOT notified.
12:13 p.m., Grand Portage: Canadian
woman stopped at the border with
drug paraphernalia. Customs requested
deputy assistance.
4:50 p.m., Grand Marais: A snowmobiler
stopped by a CO for being under
suspicion of intoxication fled from Lima
Grade to the Landing.
5:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Logging truck
off the road west of mile marker 67.
8:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in
the ditch just east of the west entrance
to Cascade Beach Road. No one was
around.
10:38 p.m., Lutsen: Maplewood man, 22,
cited for possession of a small amount of
marijuana.
10:47 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy called to
assist an intoxicated man who was
stumbling around the building at Eagle
Ridge.
10:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
requested at GunFlint Tavern to remove
some intoxicated patrons who refused to
leave.
Sunday, Feb. 6
9:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Moose that was
struck by a vehicle on the Gunflint Trail
near Iron Lake Landing at 2 a.m. was still
alive and needed to be dispatched. Game
warden contacted.
9:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint
about kids running in and out of Bay
Estates, being noisy. The caller said
they were about 13 years old, and didn’t
believe the kids were doing anything
illegal, just annoying.
Monday, Feb. 7
3:05 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested
at the ski hill for a woman with a head
and shoulder injury.
9:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Tow truck
requested to pull a vehicle out of
the ditch at the west entrance of the
Croftville Road.
Tuesday, Feb. 8
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost cell
phone reported.
11:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost coin
purse reported. It contained a Canon
battery and two photo cards.
1:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm
at a West Highway 61 residence.
Wednesday, Feb. 9
1:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft of
medication reported.
10:47 p.m., Tofte: A vehicle was stuck
on a snowmobile trail near Holiday.
Arrangements were made to have it
towed in the morning.
Thursday, Feb. 10
6:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
trailer blocking a lane on County Road 8.
Friday, Feb. 11
12:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais
man, 41, arrested for DUI test refusal
after he was seen crashing his truck into
a snowbank below the Lutheran Church.
4:17 p.m., Grand Marais: School bus stop
arm violation reported on the highway
near Fly By Drive.
6:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck
and killed on the highway about seven
miles east of town.
10:54 p.m., Schroeder: A wolf or dog was
struck by a vehicle on the highway near
Tac Harbor.
11:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Car in the
ditch on County Road 70. The owner
said it would be moved in the morning.
Saturday, Feb. 12
1:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Minnetonka
woman, 30, arrested for DWI.
1:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Disabled
vehicle on the shoulder near Brule River.
9:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of no
water on Humphrey Circle.
9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck on
the ice on Lake Superior.
9:29 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to
the ski hill for a man, 54, with a head
injury including a broken nose.
11:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver who
was reported to be intoxicated was
located in the ditch at the bottom of
County Road 14. He was not intoxicated.
12:10 p.m., Tofte: Ambulance and First
Responders called to the scene of a
snowmobile accident behind AmericInn.
2:32 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested to
speak with two people who were trying
to ride the gondola without tickets.
Sunday, Feb. 13
12:14 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested
at the GunFlint Tavern to assist with a
very intoxicated patron who could not
remember where he is staying.
11:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Pair of ski
boots found at the bottom of Hall Road.
7:52 p.m., Tofte: Deer struck on the
highway.
8:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the
ditch near 8742 Highway 61. No injuries.
8:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the
ditch near mile marker 75. No injuries.
8:20 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy unable
to locate a man who a caller said drives
around the reservation intoxicated
almost every night.
