Monday, Nov. 1
1:03 p.m., Hovland: Residential burglar alarm. A deputy found nobody around, and the buildings secure.
3:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Illinois woman, 63, cited for speeding.
3:15 p.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of 60-70 hydrocodone pills from an apartment.
11:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Dead deer in the middle of the highway at mile marker 121.
Tuesday, Nov. 2
11:15 a.m., Grand Portage: Canadian man, 27, cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
1:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at the courthouse for a domestic disturbance in court.
6:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller concerned that a person who has driven by her house twice in the last half hour may be in violation of the OFP.
6:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to speak with a woman about her options regarding a harassment issue.
Wednesday, Nov. 3
9:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to pick up a bicycle that was left at the flower shop for several days. It will be kept at the Law Enforcement Center for the owner to claim.
12:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to speak with a halfdozen teens who were smoking under the pine trees off North Broadway. The teens were gone when the deputy arrived.
1:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Bemidji man, 29, cited for driving after revocation.
Thursday, Nov. 4
3:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to check on the welfare of a woman with an abusive boyfriend who went home to get her things and move out following a blow-up in public. However, the residence was checked and the woman said she decided to stay.
3:59 p.m., Hovland: A hiker reported his 5-year-old son missing on the trail near Devil’s Kettle. Deputies, a state trooper and Search & Rescue found the boy safe and sound on the trail.
4:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer hit and killed on the highway near Cascade.
Friday, Nov. 5
1:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Wright, Minn., man, 41, arrested for DWI.
2:37 a.m., Grand Portage: Woman taken to the hospital after she threatened suicide with a knife.
9:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed at mile marker 116. The vehicle was badly damaged.
12:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that two ATVs rode down the Round Lake Road onto the Gunflint Trail, and then into a gravel pit on the other side of the creek. A deputy responded.
12:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost digital camera.
1:59 p.m., Lutsen: Possible illegal burning investigation after a fire was left unattended.
4:03 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested at the AEC garage after a half-stick of dynamite was found in a piece of equipment. Explosive Ordnance Disposal out of Brainerd was called to dispose of the item, which turned out not to be dynamite. The Forest Service was notified and a deputy also headed out to try to find dynamite that was supposedly on the Clara Lake Road.
7:02 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder Bay man, 19, cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
9:42 p.m., Grand Portage: Arrest made for domestic assault. 10:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious vehicle reported.
Saturday, Nov. 6
12:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a woman is driving around town drunk.
9:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage reported. PUC notified.
9:52 a.m., Lutsen: Complaint about cross-country skiers on Ski Hill Road who were practicing on roller skis. They did put up signs letting people know they were there, but the caller said they are all over the road, creating a hazard.
5:26 p.m., Grand Marais: REA linemen called to check a crackling sound coming from a cabin off County Road 7. No problem was found.
5:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off from Holiday. The driver was found at his home and said he forgot to pay, so he returned and paid the $45.
11:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Game warden notified after a man was seen tampering with traps.
Sunday, Nov. 7
1:11 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic assault investigation.
1:38 a.m., Tofte: Report of gunshots coming from the Carlton Peak area, possibly caused by deer hunters who were partying.
1:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Firefighters called to a garage fire behind the high school.
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a station wagon driving on the snowmobile trail that goes north to Two Island Lake from the USFS campground on Devil Track Lake.
5:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called after a group of teens was seen on the Drury Lane property, and it appeared they were going to start a firein the firepit. Theywere gone when a deputy arrived.
6:41 p.m., Colvill: Caller wanted to make note of a disturbing exchange with a neighbor.
7:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy contacted about strange lights in the sky in the Seagull area. The caller said the lights were to the north-northeast, changing from red to green and flashing. They were moving erratically and quickly, from side to side and up and down.
8:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy contacted the owner of a Jeep that was parked on Seventh Avenue West, blocking a driveway.
