Monday, Oct. 25

2:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a woman just came into the Java Moose and accused her of stalking her in the metro area and all the way up to Grand Marais. Caller has no idea who she is.

Tuesday, Oct. 26

6:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Power line down on the ground. REA advised.

6:31 a.m., Colvill: Transformer blew out, causing a power outage.

7:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire department called to the south shore of Devil Track Lake after a large explosion was seen. The explosion was a transformer. Firefighters extinguished the flames and REA restored power.

7:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Blown transformer on 11th Avenue West. Linemen dispatched.

7:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Highway Department called to clear numerous trees on the Gunflint Trail and Cascade Beach Road.

9:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost wallet reported.

9:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire Chief called to assist with smoke/ carbon monoxide detector issues.

5:54 p.m., Hovland: Numerous power outages reported in Hovland and Grand Portage.

6:13 p.m., Grand Marais: MnDOT notified of several trees down along the highway. A driver later damaged her vehicle when she hit a tree that fell near Superior Lumber.

10:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Several complaints about the driver of a vehicle that was stuck on Coast Guard Point and stopping cars to ask for a tow. The vehicle was gone when a deputy arrived.

Wednesday, Oct. 27

12:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Numerous calls about downed trees and blocked roads due to the high winds.

2:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that the pool’s roof is gone. Rec park manager notified.

2:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Resident reported that the metal siding is coming off Grand Marais Condos and it is so noisy she cannot sleep.

2:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Several power outages reported. PUC notified.

2:35 a.m., Tofte: Tofte Fire Department and other rescue units dispatched to a residence where a bad gas smell was detected.

2:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Tree down and blocking the highway near Cascade and Naniboujou. MnDOT notified. There were also power lines down on the highway at mile marker 123.

7:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Small pick-up truck in the ditch on the Gunflint Trail near Swamper. Tow truck called.

1:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $28 referred to State Patrol.

2:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Security alarm activated at a residence. It was determined that a spruce tree had fallen on the house.

8:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Wire sparking near the funeral home on Second Street.

9:27 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her roommate saw someone running from their place, but it was too dark to get a description.

Thursday, Oct. 28

7:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Highway Department notified of black ice on the Gunflint Trail in the Pincushion area. A car went into the ditch, but there was no damage.

10:18 p.m., Colvill: Grand Marais woman, 55, cited for expired registration.

Friday, Oct. 29
1:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of gasoline.

2:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Florida man, 57, cited for no seat belt use.

4:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to remove a blown tire from the highway east of the rock cut.

6:48 p.m., Tofte: Injured deer on the highway, still thrashing around. Game warden responded.

7:09 p.m., Schroeder: Dead deer removed from the road near Satellite’s.

9:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he saw a group of juveniles at Holiday, and what appeared to be an exchange of something. A group of teens then drove off to Coast Guard Point.

9:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy investigated a domestic argument involving grandparents and their granddaughter, about her boyfriend. The young girl reportedly jumped out the window and took off, but all parties involved were eventually accounted for.

Saturday, Oct. 30

1:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller staying at the Harbor Inn reported having an argument with his girlfriend, who took off walking on Highway 61 heading west. Both were intoxicated.

2:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Citations issued to juveniles for possession of alcohol and minor consumption, and minor possession of tobacco.

7:34 a.m., Hovland: Power outage reported.

12:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Superior, Wis., man, 28, cited for no seat belt.

5:08 p.m., Colvill: Power line on the ground. 11:44 p.m., Colvill: Thunder Bay woman cited for speeding.

Sunday, Oct. 31
1:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man arrested for DUI.

3:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Call received from a man who sounded intoxicated, reporting there was an intoxicated man at Old Fort William.

4:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to check on a suspicious man in the bushes behind Super 8.

10:08 a.m., Tofte: Report of a big SOS made from sticks with an arrow pointing into the Crescent Lake campgrounds. The report was unfounded — nobody was in the campgrounds.

11:43 a.m., Grand Marais: PUC took care of a tree on a power line that was smoldering and smoking.

5:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man cited for no seat belt.

6:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Game warden notified of a healthy young wolf that had its foot stuck in a trap, and has been dragging it around the South Gunflint Lake Road.

10:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle parked just off the westbound lane of the highway at mile marker 102, with no hazards on.
