Monday, June 15

8:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a coffee can full of change out of a parked vehicle sometime Saturday night. It is believed there was about $200 inside.

8:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to check the fence line around the water tower after a suspicious-looking pickup truck was seen parked there. The area was secure.

9:33 a.m., Hovland: Deputy requested after a property owner discovered a vehicle parked in her driveway. She said there had been break-ins in the area previously.

2:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Two-vehicle accident reported in the casino parking lot, no injuries. A deputy determined there were actually six vehicles involved.

2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud investigation.

2:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a bicycle from outside Hughie’s. The bike was found about an hour later, and wasn’t actually stolen — the owner’s friend took it as a prank.

2:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Baseball glove found on the Gunflint Trail.

2:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Game warden notified after a sick pelican was seen on the East Bay beach.

9:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Horses loose on the Gunflint Trail.

Tuesday, June 16

9:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller concerned about the safety of a group of bicyclists riding up the Gunflint Trail in the lane of traffic.

12:12 p.m., Lutsen: Reported theft of a new slow cooker (still in the box) from a closet. The owner said it may be related to a recent break-in at her neighbor’s.

Wednesday, June 17

1:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 29, arrested for DWI and booked into jail.

6:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Loose horses on the Gunflint Trail were rounded up.

7:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy checked on an older man who was seen slumped over the wheel of a loaded-down truck on East First Street. He was okay.

8:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Highway Department notified about a missing speed limit sign that was taken from its post.

1:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be “Pioneer Inc.” out of New York City, trying to get the last four digits of his Social Security number.

6:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported loss of a sweatshirt that was left on the beach.

9:42 p.m., Schroeder: Complaint about a loud ATV that was running around the ball park.

11:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of kids in the skateboard park after hours.

Thursday, June 18

1:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Lutsen woman, 19, cited for failure to stop at a red light.

2:00 a.m., Grand Marais: A warrant was entered for failure to appear in court on charges related to DWI.

4:28 p.m., Grand Portage: A cat-bite victim who was treated at the Clinic said she would try to catch the stray cat in a live trap so it could be quarantined. Thepatient was advised that if the cat could not be caught, she would have to go to Duluth for rabies shots.

7:50 p.m., Schroeder: Thistledew Wilderness Camp with Minnesota Corrections reported that they are on Superior Hiking Trail about one mile west of the Cramer Road, and two female juveniles were on the run, traveling east back toward Cramer Road. They were eventually returned to the group.

Friday, June 19

8:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of juveniles playing on the bus and causing damage to the garden and greenhouse at Great Expectations school.

9:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Man reported that he had been run over by an electric wheelchair on purpose at Harbor View Apartments. He wanted to speak with a deputy.

6:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A Cloquet man was arrested for DWI. 6:23 p.m., Colvill: Domestic dispute.

9:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a burning smell coming from behind Buck’s. Callers said it smelled like burning plastic or sulfur.

11:38 p.m., Grand Portage: Reported ATV accident with injuries. Driver arrested for DWI.

Saturday, June 20

2:09 p.m., Grand Portage: St. Louis Park man, 29, arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Sunday, June 21 12:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint.

2:09 a.m., Grand Portage: Tribal warden notified about a dead moose just east of Reservation River.

1:39 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle in the ditch near Tac Harbor. Unknown injuries.

2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Portage woman, 38, arrested on an Itasca County warrant.

6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller cited for falsely reporting a crime after he told deputies his neighbor was revving his engine in the driveway and going around in circles out onto the street.
