Monday, Sept. 6

8:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Four cows were seen walking down County Road 7, almost into town. Theowner was contacted to round them up.

12:39 p.m., Lutsen: St. Cloud man, 34, cited for speeding.

12:54 p.m., Tofte: Eden Prairie man, 52, cited for speeding.

1:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about three kids on skateboards on downtown streets who would not move over for traffic.Thecaller said it has happened before, and something should be done about it.

3:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of suspicious activity at a neighbor’s residence yesterday between 11 and 11:30 p.m. The caller said she saw lights go on, and then silhouettes and a truck. There hasn’t been anybody at the residence in two years, so the activity seemed especially strange.

6:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 23, cited for speeding.

6:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a peeping tom at the international workers’ housing unit on County Road 7. It is believed to be a younger kid who is there between midnight and 3 a.m.

7:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder Bay woman, 25, cited for speeding.

Tuesday, Sept. 7

3:08 a.m., Schroeder: Duluth man, 21, arrested for DWI following a vehicle roll-over.

3:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Elderly woman called from a motel and said her husband needed medical attention and transportation to the hospital, but she wanted a taxi, not an ambulance. When informed there was no taxi in Grand Marais, the woman said she would call relatives at the Rec Park for a ride. When she couldn’t contact them, she called 911 again and an ambulance was sent.

6:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of donkeys on the road. Owner contacted.

8:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Nuisance bear at Loon Lake. Game warden notified.

10:08 a.m., Grand Marais: An injured bear that was struck by a vehicle near Thomsonite Beach was taken to the DNR office.

10:23 a.m., Schroeder: Report of a stolen cooler and small gas grill from Lamb’s Campground.

3:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Numerous calls about a bear hanging around the school, and the kids were getting out. Thesheriff and a game warden stayed in the area during school release. There was no bear trouble.

4:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious vehicle with Illinois plates seen in the McFarland Lake area.

5:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his ex-wife’s vehicle is unsafe and has no insurance.

8:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm inadvertently activated at the Border Patrol station.

8:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Dead deer in the middle of County Road 8 was removed.

11:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Portage man, 47, cited for no proof of insurance.

11:37 p.m., Tofte: Complaint of an underage drinking party in a neighboring apartment occupied by foreign students. Deputies responded.

Wednesday, Sept. 8

1:24 a.m., Grand Marais: The fire chief responded with a carbon monoxide detector after fire alarms went off at a residence.

7:08 a.m., Colvill: Deputy requested after a garage door was found open at a residence.

7:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 64, cited for speeding.

8:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Hovland man cited for speeding.

3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Illinois man, 27, cited for speeding.

6:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a neighbor burning brush near a wooded area in an inadequate rock ring. A deputy spoke with the person and told him to build a better ring.

8:25 p.m., Grand Portage: Burglar alarm activated at the national monument. The building was found to be secure.

Thursday, Sept. 9

12:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Maplewood man, 51, cited for speeding.

11:05 p.m., Grand Marais: A large boom truck was stuck on the Honeymoon Trail near Christine Lake, blocking both lanes. A deputy assisted.

Friday, Sept. 10

11:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Edina woman, 73, cited for speeding.

11:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a couple loads of logs near Two Island turned out to be unfounded.

12:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Duluth man, 39, cited for speeding.

12:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Motorcycle accident just west of County Road 13 on the highway.

6:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 29, cited for following too close.

7:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Texas woman, 74, cited for speeding.

7:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario man, 33, cited for speeding.

Saturday, Sept. 11

1:01 p.m., Hovland: Owner reported that someone kicked in the door of his cabin.

1:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario man, 56, cited for speeding.

4:35 p.m., Lutsen: Report that two people in a green truck were dumping a couch in the state gravel pit off Caribou Trail.

6:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Assistance requested for a couple that was riding a motorcycle and hit a deer on the Gunflint Trail.

9:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Minneapolis man, 58, cited for speeding.

10:24 p.m., Schroeder: Complaint about fireworks at Lamb’s Campground for over an hour. The people at the site said they had no fireworks, but were making loud noises with other items.

Sunday, Sept. 12

12:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a group of campers on private property shooting off firearms.

6:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to investigate possibly illegal burning of garbage. The deputy found burning of brush, but no garbage.
