Thursday, March 17

1:32 p.m. Gunflint Trail LEC: Assist another agency. Caller reported that they had
received a call from the Chicago Police Department about a vehicle that had been at the
intersection of Canal Port and Rubel Port for several months. It had a Grand Portage
plate on it and caller requested information related to that plate. Dispatch offered to contact the owner of the vehicle but did not offer information to the caller. Further action
was left up to the Chicago Police.
3:57 p.m. Grand Marais: South Broadway, Informational. Three people were going to be
swimming in the harbor.

Friday, March 18

3:46 p.m. Gunflint Trail LEC: Assisting another agency. Two people came in for their
drug tests: one was positive for THC, the other person was positive for amphetamine
and THC.
4:17 p.m. Grand Marais: First Avenue West, Shoplifting. Dyes valued at $25 a piece and
personal property belonging to employees were stolen. Theft was witnessed; suspect
named. Suspect was interviewed and stated they were going to bring items back, that
they were going to pay for them. Within an hour, suspect had returned all the items.

Saturday, March 19

3:29 p.m. Grand Marais: First Avenue East: Paper service. Papers personally served by
a deputy after several attempts. Person who received papers called later that evening to
find out if the computer chip or disc thing they found was supposed to be included with
the papers. Person was advised that he had been served with a flash drive and he would
have to use a computer to review what was on it.
6:07 p.m. Grand Marais: East Highway 61, Lost dog. Caller found a small white and
brown Chihuahua dog with no collar and secured the dog. The little dog got to ride in a
police car and was brought to the LEC. Calls were made to try to contact possible owners. A community member volunteered to keep the dog until the owner was found. This
was okay with Arrowhead Animal Rescue. The owner’s boyfriend and another party
verified who the dog belonged to, and the dog and owner were reunited.

Sunday, March 20

1:10 p.m. Grand Portage: Casino Drive, Assault. Two women got into a fight at the
casino. Surveillance cameras showed a clear aggressor. Victim was advised to contact the
Sheriff’s office if she wanted anything done about the assault.
11:36 a.m. East Highway 61: Gas Drive Off. Caller reported that a black GMC SUV driven by a woman wearing a purple coat owed $83.87 for gas and did not pay. No license
plate information available. Unable to locate suspect or vehicle.
12:52 p.m. Old Ski Hill Road: Public Assistance. Caller wanted to know if he could
ride his snowmobile on the old ski runs. He had called earlier and wanted to know if
he could ride his sled along the powerlines. He was advised that he should ride on the
snowmobile trails. He was warned not to trespass on private property.
2:09 p.m. Gunflint Trail LEC: Lost dog. Caller reported they found a dog east of town
running in traffic. It was a dark colored Weimaraner with no tags or collar. Arrowhead
Animal Rescue was contacted. Owner was located. The dog’s name is Blue. Dog and
owner were reunited.
