Tuesday, November 9

12:36 p.m. County Road 7: Grass Wildfire. Multiple calls
received concerning a dry grass fire that was heading
back into the woods in an area that included power lines.
Wind was driving the fire eastward. Arrowhead Electric was contacted as a downed power line appeared to
have started the fire. The south insulator on a pole had
broken and caused wires to tangle and spark. The fire
was knocked down. One hour later, everyone was cleared
from the scene.
2:17 p.m. Gunflint Trail LEC: Property lost/found. Person walked into the LEC lobby with a black MAVIC Air
drone that they had found. Drone owner was contacted
and advised to pick up their property from the Law Enforcement Center (LEC).

Wednesday, November 10

7:53 a.m. Grand Marais: West Fifth Street, Smoke in
area. Investigation determined that a resident was firing
up their wood boiler for the winter. Owner said that the
outdoor boiler always smokes a lot until he gets it hot
enough.
8:50 a.m. Grand Marais: West Fifth Street, Property lost/
found. A large chain was found on the side of the road. It
was a logging chain.
3:24 p.m. Grand Marais: Second Avenue East, Fraud/
Scam/ID. Caller reported that she received a letter in the
mail that was a scam. It was not addressed to her, only
her PO Box. The letter was from Pacific West Corporation out of Canada. The letter said that the caller hit the
jackpot and won $1,400,000 dollars.

Friday, November 12

12:01 a.m. (midnight), Camp 20 Road: Check hazard.
The Flute Reed River was overflowing. Caller had just
driven over the river and almost turned around. This river overflow was a problem until the heavy rain stopped.

Saturday, November 13

11:51 a.m. Grand Marais: Fifth Avenue West, Landlord/
tenant trouble, a Civil Matter. Tenant called to report that
his landlord had moved all his stuff out of his apartment
and had not given proper notice. Investigation determined that the landlord had let the tenant stay in the
house in exchange for services (house painting and other
repairs). So, the landlord would have to go through a
formal eviction process even though there was no signed
lease and no rent was paid.
