Saturday, October 2

12:12 p.m. Gunflint Trail: Possible Theft. Caller reported
that a small boulder with an international boundary
marker had been stolen. The whole boulder was removed and it had been in place for more than fifty years.
A little more than an hour later, the caller reported that
they had found the boulder with marker intact. It had
been flipped upside down and pushed back into the
woods.

Thursday, October 7

1:21 p.m. Grand Portage: Townsite Road, Suspicious Activity. Caller reported that a green Arctic Cat 4-Wheeler had been parked at the end of the road for the past few days. Investigation determined that the VIN had rusted out on the machine. 6:14 p.m. Grand Marais: West Highway 61, Assisted Jailer. Officer went to the HOLIDAY Station to pick up milk for someone in the jail.

Saturday, October 9

9:01 a.m. Devil Track Lake: Devil Track Road, Public
Assistance. Someone was moving a building at 1 p.m.
and requested assistance with traffic control. Devil Track
Road was shut down for a while when the building was
moved.
2:06 p.m. Richey Lake Road: Suspicious Activity. Two
people were camping in the public access area of the
lake. One camper was rude and vulgar to the person that
came upon them. The camper told the man to “get the
F— out of here, you don’t want to mess with me.” The
camper was smoking something with a pipe and lighter.
Investigation determined that the two campers had not
realized they should not be camping in the public access
area of the lake. They were advised to pack up and go
find an appropriate campsite.

Sunday, October 10

5:55 p.m. Grand Marais: West Wisconsin Street, Public
Assistance. A man was observed sitting in a parked pickup truck. He was vomiting and seemed to be quite ill.
Upon arriving on the scene, the deputy discovered that
the man had fallen asleep in the vehicle. The deputy and
a hotel manager helped the man get to his hotel room so
he could rest. The sick man was apologetic and said that
he was embarrassed about the situation.
9:50 p.m. East Highway 61: International Border, Public
Assistance. A young man in his twenties was found
wandering around the border area. He didn’t speak
very much English so a translator was found. The young
man was asking for help and was afraid of people and
things. The young man’s family was contacted and
were surprised that he was at the Canadian border, four
hundred miles away from his home. The young man was
transported to North Shore Health for evaluation and
support.
