Wednesday, September 8
12:45 a.m. (middle of the night) The Grade: Check hazards. Trees down on The Grade and blocking most of the
road east of Crescent Lake Campground and east of the
Sawbill Trail. US Forest Service contacted for removal
work.
3:26 p.m. West end: Medical assistance. An 18-year-old
male had an unexpected allergic reaction to molds. It
was getting harder for him to breathe. Hands and face
felt numb and it got worse as exposure to the molds continued. The young man was transported to North Shore
Health in an ambulance.

Thursday, September 9
8:15 a.m. Grand Marais: Fourth Avenue West, bear in
yard. Woman called to report that she had a bear in her
yard last night. The bear was not interested in her apple
tree, the bear went straight to the garbage. The woman
decided to have someone pick the apples off the tree and
she was advised to secure the garbage so the bear can’t
get into it again.
12:18 p.m. Grand Marais: West Fifth Street, Property
lost/found. An electric bike was found in the school
forest. A grade school student found the bike on a path
behind the football practice field and the bike was placed
in a secure garage. The owner of the bike was reunited
with their iron horse two days later.
2:15 p.m. Grand Marais: East Highway 61, fawn situation. Caller reported that a woman seemed to be trying
to help a young deer. Then some kids tried to lure the
baby deer across the roadway and that was causing a
problem with traffic. Investigation determined that the
kids were trying to get the deer back near a location
where it may have been born. The mother went missing
and the kids have been keeping an eye on the fawn.
6:41 p.m. Devil Track Lake: South Shore Drive,
Unknown trouble. Caller reported that a single engine
plane was flying over their house and the engine
stopped. The plane kept moving forward but it didn’t
seem like the engine restarted. Rodney Roy was
contacted at the Airport. He advised that they do have
flight training going on right now and that would be a
training exercise but he also requested that the area be
checked. All was well.

Saturday, September 11
8:10 p.m. East Highway 61: Personal injury accident. A
motorcyclist hit a small deer. The deer died. The motorcyclist had minor injuries and there was minimal
damage to the motorcycle.
