Monday, June 21

12:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 30, cited for speeding.

1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario woman, 56, cited for speeding.

2:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Brooklyn Center man, 49, cited for speeding.

3:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 48, cited for speeding.

4:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a woman was driving around without a license and no insurance.

6:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost camera.

9:54 p.m., Lutsen: Complaint about a loud party on Mink Ranch Road. A deputy spoke with the people involved.

11:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that someone was looking in the window of her apartment the past two nights.

Tuesday, June 22

2:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person wandering around the Holiday store.

9:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that an erratic semi driver just went through town headed west.

10:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle stuck in the ditch on the Gunflint Trail at the Wahlstrom and School House roads. There were no injuries, but the ditch was very soft and they were unable to get out.

1:41 p.m., Tofte: Report of an erratic Wisconsin driver swerving in and out of the lanes through Tofte.

2:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller complained about someone who was asleep in a sleeping bag on the lawn between JHP and the Tavern. The caller said it was “just gross…I don’t come to visit here to see that.”

3:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Portage man, 35, cited for driving after suspension.

3:38 p.m., Grand Marais: New Prague man cited for no seat belt.

4:11 p.m., Schroeder: Two-car accident on Highway 61. There were conflicting reports of injuries.

10:16 p.m., Tofte: Three individuals dressed in dark clothing were seen sneaking around the pool building at Surfside Resort. It was discovered that they had broken in and two flat screen TVs with wall mounts were stolen. The suspects left in an older colored gray Oldsmobile headed east on the highway.

10:18 p.m., Grand Marais: International worker reported that someone put some dog poop wrapped in paper on his doorstep and set it on fire. Thevictim was concerned that it may be some sort of hate crime in America.

11:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to assist a motorist with a flat tire west of town.

Wednesday, June 23

6:43 a.m., Lutsen: Report of two belligerent men waiting for Clearview to open. The complainant said the men were asking for cigarettes and started yelling obscenities.

7:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm activated at the Border Patrol office. A Coast Guard member set it off accidentally.

8:18 p.m., Tofte: Caller said there was a suspicious camper parked on private property at the end of Johannes Lane behind the bank.

10:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to remove an intoxicated man from a residence.

Thursday, June 24

2:49 a.m., Grand Marais: After hearing tires squealing near 2909 E. Highway 61, the caller went out and discovered a car in the ditch against a tree. No one was around, and the vehicle was towed. The owner of the vehicle later called to report that it was missing from Birch Terrace.

10:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Two lawn chairs valued at $150 were reported stolen.

12:45 p.m., Grand Portage: Staff at the national monument rescued two people who were stuck in the elevator when a power outage occurred.

2:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of speeding dump trucks on Golf Course Road.

7:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint from Way of the Wilderness about fireworks going off for the last two days and nights. 8:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that his 11-year-old grandson ran off and hasn’t been seen in about two hours. He was found just as Search & Rescue was to be paged.

Friday, June 25

12:33 a.m., Grand Marais: A very intoxicated man called from Birch Terrace and said he had been assaulted by some women and something had been taken from him, and the bartender was asking him to leave. Theman wanted to know if this was legal? A deputy responded and it was determined the caller needed to go to detox.

3:17 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic argument.

5:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a vehicle pulling a trailer went off the Gunflint Trail and into the woods was investigated.

9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost purse.

3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a person flying a remote-control plane on Fifth Avenue West that almost hit a moving vehicle. A deputy spoke with the person, who said he would stop.

5:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about someone shooting toward the caller’s property.

5:34 p.m., Grand Portage: Report that someone broke out a window in a van parked at the national monument. A short time later, someone threw a rock at the RTC building.

6:38 p.m., Grand Portage: The national monument requested the fire department to the lake gate of the historic depot, where someone started a fire. A juvenile male, 17, was found and arrested, charged with two counts of property damage (see preceding entry), arson, resisting with force and fleeing on foot.

Saturday, June 26

7:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone broke into a boat and took the key.

8:33 a.m., Grand Marais: The manager of a downtown business complained that there were a couple people on the roof trying to rescue an injured seagull. She did not want them on the roof due to liability issues.

2:57 p.m., Grand Marais: People aboard the Hjordis pulled a person out of the water who was trying to swim across the harbor from the Rec Park, and now it looks like he’s trying to do it again. Theywere concerned about his safety, because the man didn’t do very well on the first attempt. However, the swimmer got out of the water on his own, quickly, the second time.

7:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Gunflint Trail Fire Department called to a house fire that was started by an unattended outdoor grill. There was damage to the side of the building up to the eaves.

7:34 p.m., Grand Marais: A Gunflint Trail business reported the theft of $350 in cash, believed to be by an employee, and it was the fourth occurrence in 10 days. Ten people were interviewed, and the investigation is ongoing.

10:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud arguing near Birchwood.

Sunday, June 27

1:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 21, arrested for DUI and booked into jail.

1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft investigation.

1:17 p.m., Lutsen: One-vehicle accident reported east of Lutsen. Two people injured.

4:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of three fishing poles valued at $250 reported.

4:57 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said his foot was run over in the RV lot at the casino, but was gone when a deputy arrived.

7:53 p.m., Lutsen: Two-vehicle accident at Cascade Restaurant. A semi was in the ditch and two tow trucks were called from Duluth to remove it. No injuries reported.

9:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Investigation of reported underage drinking near the pool was determined to be unfounded.

10:17 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputies were unable to locate some juveniles who dumped a six-pack of beer in the bushes when questioned by casino security. They were previously seen trying to hide the beer under a shirt.

10:58 p.m., Grand Marais: A cleaning person set off the alarm at the credit union.
