Wednesday, July 21
12:12 a.m. West Highway 61: Suspicious activity. It is
after midnight, the resort pool is closed and a man keeps
jumping into the pool and using the hot tub. He is not
a registered guest. He just showed up in the pool area
and keeps moving back and forth between the pool and
the hot tub. He was taken to the ER for evaluation and
support. A friend from Duluth picked him up the next
morning.
7:25 p.m. Onion River Road: Animal lost. A black lab
with a white chest mark and white paws on the back legs
(named “Nala”) went missing about three hours ago.
Arrowhead Animal Rescue was contacted.
Thursday, July 22
6:01 a.m. Grand Marais: Broadway near the Coast Guard
Station, Welfare check requested. People called with concerns for a man that seemed to be living in his car parked
near the Coast Guard Station. A welfare check was done.
8:38 a.m. Wayside Animal Disturbance. A black lab was
found at the wayside. Owner could not be contacted,
so Dispatch called Arrowhead Animal Rescue and they
picked up the dog.
11:55 a.m. Grand Marais: West Third Street, Suspicious
activity. Caller reported that someone was camping on
an empty lot at the west end of Third Street. They had
a trailer and there was a generator. Investigation determined that the campers had just purchased the property.
8:35 p.m. Grand Marais Rec Park: Eighth Avenue West.
Informational. Two sailors went cruising on a boat and
one sailor got kicked off the boat in Grand Marais. That
sailor was waiting at the Rec Park for a Duluth friend
to pick him up. The caller wanted to confirm that only
registered guests can be in the Rec Park after 10 p.m. The
sailor was picked up by his friend at 9:34 p.m.
Friday, July 23
12:06 p.m. Grand Marais: East Fifth Street, Public Assistance. A landlord called to discuss a tenant problem. The
tenant was playing music at 4 a.m. The landlord was advised that this is a civil issue, but if a call was made when
someone was behaving badly, then the incident could be
investigated and the suspect could be warned of possible
criminal behavior.
