Wednesday, July 7
6:39 a.m. County Road 7: Neighbor trouble. Caller
reported that his neighbor has a very loud vehicle that
wakes everyone up at 6:30 a.m. when it passes by on the
road. This has been going on for two years and has been
reported many times. Caller felt that the problem has
reached a point where there could be an altercation. The
owner of the vehicle was interviewed and stated that he
hasn’t even been home the last few mornings.
8:15 a.m. Grand Portage: Upper Road, Burglary. Caller
reported that some kids broke into the school very
early Saturday morning. They broke a camera and
dented some lockers but didn’t seem to take anything.
Surveillance cameras helped identify possible suspects.
12:57 p.m. Kimball Creek Search and Rescue. A nineyear old boy injured his foot and the bleeding would not
stop. The foot was dressed, and the boy was carried out.
No ambulance transport was needed.
Friday, July 9
8:26 a.m. Greenwood Lake: Animal lost/found.
Caller said that his dog went missing yesterday in the
Greenwood Lake area. It was a female dog, red Heller
with floppy ears, wearing a green collar with no tags.
Caller was working with the forest service and would be
in and out of cell phone service areas, so they shared two
contact phone numbers in case anyone found the dog.
Arrowhead Animal Rescue was able to reunite dog with
owner.
1:16 p.m. Trout Lake Road Grass Wildfire. The fire was
in the woods almost halfway around the lake, accessible
by water only. First observations were that size was 50
yards by 30 yards with underground activity. Multiple
parties responded.
3:31 p.m. Public Assistance. Caller had questions
regarding truck traffic on Mink Lake Road and Trout
Lake Road. Caller was going to be leading a group of
young adults on bikes and wanted to make sure it was
safe. Caller was advised that these should be good roads
to bike down, but that everyone should stay alert as they
could come across some truck traffic since there are
plenty of logging and construction trucks working up
here.
5:37 p.m. Teal Lake Road: Smoke in area. Smoke was
observed around Cowboy Road or the old border road;
smoke was starting to billow. Multiple parties responded.
Investigation determined that the fire was in Canada.
Saturday, July 10
7:25 a.m. Walter Road: Damage to Property. A group of
five or six mailboxes was smashed sometime overnight.
2:33 p.m. Boostrom Way: Disturbance. Caller was
cruising on their jet ski and someone on a dock threw a
rock and hit one of his kids in the head. Another party
came up and yelled at them and told them they weren’t
welcome.
5:27 p.m. Otter Lake Road area. A man and woman had
set up camp in the Otter Lake Road area (not in a formal
campsite). They found what they thought was a fire pit
to use, but when the fire really got hot, they heard some
popping noises. Their dog was hit with something in
the leg which they thought was a .22 bullet fragment.
Despite the injury, the dog was doing fine.
Sunday, July 11
1:54 p.m. Grand Portage: Marina Road. A private
investigator was working on a case involving a missing
person. Caller believed that the missing person was the
victim of a homicide. County Law Enforcement assisted
other agencies with this investigation.
3:47 p.m. East Highway 61: International Border area.
Caller reported that someone fell from a cliff on the
Pigeon River and broke their arm. Victim was currently
on the Canadian side of the river. Someone on the
American side of the river swam across to assist the
victim. Canadian responders rescued the fall victim and
gave the American swimmer a ride back to the border.
4:56 p.m. Deer Lake and Moon Lake area: Bear grabbed
backpack with gun and ran away with it. Eddy the
canine cannot smell gun powder, so was unable to track
for the gun. Bear with pack was not located; gun was
reported as lost.
