Monday, June 14
1:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputies checked on a 911 hangup call from North House Folk School and found two instructors asleep, neither of whom made the call. It was believed there was a phone malfunction.
8:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Woman reported the loss of a black leather coin purse.
12:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Woman reported that her estranged husband broke into her place a couple weeks ago.
12:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported loss of a camera that was left on a bench during the car show.
12:45 p.m., Tofte: Complaint about a group of campers at Toohey Lake who were partying all night, being very loud and setting off cherry bombs.
3:51 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a deer hit and injured by a vehicle just south of Sugar Loaf Road on Highway 61.
8:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Duluth woman, 22, cited for speeding.
11:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 51, cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
Tuesday, June 15
12:00 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic argument reported.
3:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle roll-over about three miles south of Seagull Creek. The driver was transported to the hospital.
11:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of criminal damage and stolen property from two vehicles.
3:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that when he came out of the BWCA, he found that someone had carved the word “Love” into his driver’s side door.
4:06 p.m., Grand Marais: A Grand Portage man was stopped and arrested on an outstanding warrant as he headed to town.
5:31 p.m., Grand Portage: Trading Post reported that a vehicle drove off with the gas pump hose still attached. The driver eventually returned and dropped off the hose.
9:00 p.m., Grand Portage: A motor home struck a rock on the highway just south of the border store, making it undrivable.
Wednesday, June 16
4:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a vehicle speeding (50 mph) on Third Avenue West. Thecaller said it has been going on all week.
11:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Texas man, 40, arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Thursday, June 17
7:04 a.m., Grand Marais: County vehicle struck a deer just east of Clearview.
8:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire chief contacted to check a residence where the carbon monoxide detector was going off.
11:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Residential burglar alarm was going off. A deputy found the home to be secure.
6:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint about an RV at the West Bearskin Public Landing.
Friday, June 18
12:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 24, cited for speeding.
7:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run damage to a vehicle parked at the high school.
8:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported loss of a rod and reel on Trout Lake Road.
1:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Oakdale man, 32, cited for speeding.
1:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Washington, D.C., woman, 25, cited for speeding.
1:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Highway Department notified of a tree across County Road 57.
2:05 p.m., Grand Marais: A Nintendo DS and games were found in a downtown parking lot.
2:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 20, cited for speeding.
5:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Gunflint Hills Golf Course reported the theft of a bucket of golf balls valued at $30. The suspect was driving a gray Honda with a golden retriever in the back seat.
Saturday, June 19
12:12 a.m., Lutsen: Fire chief called to a residence where the carbon monoxide detector was going off.
6:58 a.m., Grand Marais: County notified by the Forest Service that they would be investigating an area on Caribou Lake off Clearwater Lake due to a lot of gunshots in the area the previous day.
9:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Phone outages reported on the Gunflint Trail.
2:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Aurora man, 31, cited for speeding.
6:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a woman passed out in her yard.
9:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about vehicles driving around in the fields on County Road 14. An old jalopy and a truck got stuck.
10:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that her daughters were playing in the yard and a ball went down near Fifth Street. A white truck with two men inside stopped and asked if the kids needed a ride.
Sunday, June 20
12:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Possible probation violation reported.
9:41 a.m., Lutsen: Report of possibly illegal camping on the Tait Lake access. The caller said he heard gunshots, and now the guy is fishing on the lake with two lines. Game warden and Forest Service notified.
7:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Portage man, 40, cited for a parking violation.
10:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Residential burglar alarm.
11:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Columbus, Ind., man, 21, cited for speeding.
