Tuesday, February 9
10:58 a.m. Onion River Trail area: Snowmobile accident,
Medical assistance requested. Female, age 52, was alert
and conscious with possible broken ribs and back injury.
Helmet intact, nose bloody. Transported to North Shore
Health.
Wednesday, February 10
9:02 a.m. Possible computer crime. Juvenile suspect sent
email with sexual content using internal email account to
a staff member. Message was also sent to other students
thru chat software. Students did not see messages because
all hardware was confiscated. Suspect and parent were
interviewed; investigation is ongoing.
10:17 a.m. Grand Marais: Unwanted person, suspicious
activity, customer trouble, all the same person. Man
was loitering at the East Bay Suites, City Hall building,
Arrowhead building, Holiday station, and the Dairy
Queen. Man was talking to himself and making loud
noises. He would not leave when asked and said things
to people that made them uncomfortable. Citation was
issued for a trespass situation. He was transported to a
friend’s house.
6:13 p.m. Lutsen: Caribou Highlands, threats received.
Caller reported that an unknown person had texted
and threatened him multiple times. Incidents were
investigated.
6:25 p.m. West Highway 61: Attempt to locate. Visitors
(three adults and a teenager) went snowmobiling around
noon and had not returned. Hungry Jack Lodge reported
that a group matching the age and clothing descriptions
had left there about ten minutes before the call. Search
and Rescue was put on standby. 7:33 p.m. All members of
the group had returned and were safe and sound.
9:24 p.m. West Highway 61: Animal lost. A yellow lab
named Rowdy took off and may have jumped into the
lake. Collar and tags have owner’s contact information.
An officer in the area drove around and helped search the
area on foot, but was unable to locate Rowdy. Hopefully,
someone found the dog and called the number on the
tags.
Thursday, February 11
1:51 p.m. Grand Marais: West Third Street. Caller
reported that there were mangy coyotes in her yard. Call
was referred to a Conservation Officer.
5:13 p.m. County Road 6: Chimney fire. Chimney was
full of creosote, fire fighters cleared a hot pipe from
the roof and put out the fire. Owner was advised that
chimney needs a good cleaning.
Saturday, February 13
4:46 p.m. Foothill Boulevard and South Caribou Drive:
Animal disturbance. Two black horses were running free.
Horses and owners were reunited.
Sunday, February 14
7:39 a.m. Grand Marais: Second Avenue West. Frozen
water lines reported. Requested assistance from Grand
Marais public utilities staff.
