Wednesday, December 23
12:07 p.m. Gunflint Trail
LEC: Unknown trouble.
Tenant walked into
the Law Enforcement
Center with concerns
and questions about their
landlord’s behavior. Tenant
still had a few large items
that needed to go to the
dump, but landlord had
kicked them out and
threatened to dump the
material somewhere else.
It was suggested that since
the landlord had a truck, if
they brought the items to
the dump, then the tenant
could pay for that service.
Party was advised that this
had become a civil issue.
5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m
and through morning
hours of the next day.
Power outages, fallen
trees, and disruptions
reported throughout the
county: County Road 14,
Schroeder Tote Road, Old
Shore Road, Beargrease
Crossing, Tamarack
Trail, Old Ski Hill Road,
Rosebush Hill, East
Highway 61, Tall Timber
Trail, Mopar Trail, and
County Road 34. This
winter blizzard had winds
gusting to more than 70
miles per hour.
5:06 p.m. Grand Marais:
West Wisconsin Street.
A city garbage can had
caught the wind and was
charging down Wisconsin
Street like it was shot out
of a cannon. It was tucked
away behind a raised
garden bed next to the Java
Moose to keep it secure.
Thursday, December 24
10:02 a.m. Pine Tree Drive,
Gas leak in or out. Vents
were covered with snow
drifts and the residential
gas alarm was going off.
Snow was moved away
from the vents.
12:13 p.m. Lutsen: Ski Hill
Road, Medical assistance
requested. A 51 year
old male with a possible
shoulder injury was
transported to North Shore
Health.
4:54 p.m. West Highway
61: Medical assistance
requested. A 47 year old
female slipped on some ice
near an entrance and was
in extreme pain. Woman
received care at the North
Shore Health ER.
Friday, December 25
3:27 p.m. Grand Portage:
Mile Creek Road,
Snowmobile stuck at 420
Upper Road. Party was
advised that they should
not be driving a sled on
National Park Service
property. They promised to
get it removed as soon as
possible.
Saturday, December 26
10:19 a.m. Poplar Lake:
Public assistance. Caller
noticed that her mailbox
had been taken out by
a snow plow. She was
advised to call the county
highway department on
Monday.
12:09 p.m. Lutsen: Ski Hill
Road, Medical assistance
requested. Male may have
broken left femur. He was
transported to North Shore
Health.
6:21 p.m. East Highway
61: Power line problems.
Caller reported that they
had a tree on the power
line and it was sparking a
little. Then the tree caught
on fire. The tree burnt
off the line. Arrowhead
Electric cleared the scene;
the line was not damaged.
Sunday, December 27
6:34 a.m. Lutsen: Caribou
Trail, Animal disturbance.
Caller reported that she
discovered a wild mink
in the house, under the
couch. The woman left
the house and called
from a friend’s house.
Her call was transferred
to the Minnesota State
Patrol to connect with a
Conservation Officer.
9:34 p.m. Gunflint Trail
LEC: Public Assistance.
Caller was instructed by
veterinarian to get some
hydrogen peroxide for
their dog: a dose of two
ounces now and two
ounces for later. The dog
had eaten a sock.
Monday, December 28
8:19 a.m. Bally Creek
Road: Traffic complaint.
While cross country skiing
yesterday around noon,
a small older model red
truck with graphics on the
side went driving down the
Bally Creek ski trail. The
vehicle headed north on
Forest Road 158 and came
out on the Meridian Road.
