Tuesday, November 10
1:00 a.m. Attempt to locate. Family member reported
that a 35 year old male suffering from suicidal depression
was heading up the shore. Saint Louis County and Lake
County were part of this attempt to locate. Using cell
phone pings, the person was located in Lake County and
given medical support as needed.
3:21 p.m. Grand Marais: First Avenue East, Animal
lost. Caller lost their one year old white cat (with a little
brown and grey on him). No update available.
11:02 p.m. Grand Marais: Fifth Avenue West, Public
assistance. Deputy assisted with getting a patient home to
Lutsen.
Wednesday, November 11
10:39 a.m. East Highway 61: Possible structure fire.
Caller smelled smoke in her home but saw no flames.
Investigation determined that light had refracted off of
something in the house and started a cardboard box on
the kitchen table on fire. There was a 3” x 3” burn in the
box.
Thursday, November 12
1:43 a.m. West Highway 61: Utility problem. Power just
went out with a “boom”. On-call Arrowhead Electric
lineman contacted. Power was restored.
12:47 p.m. East Highway 61: Public assistance. A man
stopped in the lobby to state that he was just refused
service at a local business because he wouldn’t wear
a mask. The man stated that he has a respiratory
disability so he can’t wear a mask and that the American
Disabilities Act protects him from this kind of
discrimination. He was advised that this was a civil issue
rather than a criminal one, and that he would need to
contact an attorney.
Friday, November 13
5:58 p.m. Grand Marais: Fifth Avenue West, Welfare
check requested. Caller reported that her neighbor’s
husband, age 91, drove to a Silver Bay pharmacy this
morning to get some insulin and they have not heard
back from him yet. Dispatch called around to area
hospitals and the Lake County Sheriff ’s office in an
attempt to locate the man. The man called his wife a few
minutes later: he was fine and on his way home from
Duluth.
Sunday, November 15
12:14 a.m. East Highway 61: Public assistance. Caller
reported that their vehicle was stuck in the rocks and
needed a tow. North Coast Towing was able to assist.
