Tuesday, September 22
12:10 a.m. West Highway
61: Public assistance.
Visitors unable to get
into their rental unit (key
card stopped working)
and they couldn’t find a
night manager. Dispatcher
contacted the west end
business and directed
staff to the location of the
visitors.
6:17 a.m. Grand Marais:
Property lost. Caller
reported that they lost a
hearing aid (tan in color)
somewhere in Grand
Marais about three weeks
ago.
8:50 a.m. Grand Marais:
Public assistance. Caller
reported knowing a
homeless woman that
needed support from
County Public Health and
Human Services. County
was contacted and services
were available as needed.
6:49 p.m. Grand Marais:
First Avenue East,
neighbor complaint.
Caller felt threatened by a
neighbor and his big dog
in a stairwell.
9:45 p.m. Grand Marais:
West Fifth Street, animal
complaint. A mama bear
was in the dumpster and
two cubs were nearby. Five
minutes later, the bears
had moved on and were no
longer in the area.
Thursday, September 24
12:08 p.m. Gunflint
Trail: hunting behavior

complaint. Hunter was
observed shooting a
grouse; hunter was not
wearing any blaze orange.
A citation could not be
issued for this offense, but
hunter was warned not to
hunt small game without
wearing blaze orange.
1:53 p.m. Grand Marais:
Second Avenue West,
animal complaint. A mama
bear and cub were in a
tree near the caller’s house.
The bears were not being
aggressive.
4:45 p.m. West Highway
61: Request for assistance.
Traffic control request for
assistance at the church.
The drive-thru flu shot
event had a long line of
waiting vehicles and that
was causing some issues.
5:28 p.m. Grand Marais:
West Ninth Street near
the Gunflint Trail, animal
disturbance. Caller
reported that four bears
were refusing to leave

her yard. The bears were
not being aggressive.
Conservation Officer
contacted.
Friday, September 25
6:50 a.m. Grand Marais:
Third Avenue West, animal
disturbance. Caller was
very upset about the bear
situation in town. Four
out of the last seven days,
he has had problems with
bears getting into his trash
and pooping in his yard.
Caller is not able to store
trash inside. He said he
can scare off the bears, but
they eventually come back
around.
11:03 a.m. Grand Marais:
property lost. Someone
left their phone at the Post
Office.
Saturday, September 26
2:23 p.m. Hut Point: Theft
reported. Two panels
(about eight feet in length)
of copper decking were
taken some time during
the last three days.

5:04 p.m. Pike Lake Road:
Hunting disturbance. Some
hunters were shooting
toward a local farm from
the road. They crossed
over a farm fence and were
trespassing. The hunting
party left when they were
asked to leave and they
also apologized. Deputies
were able to locate the
hunting party; a citation
for trespassing was issued.
Sunday, September 27
10:12 a.m. Grand Marais:
Fourth Avenue West. One
adult male was picked
up and taken to the Law
Enforcement Center.
2:11 p.m. Suspicious
Activity. Caller reported
that there was a car from
the 1960s in the woods,
in a weird place. They
were concerned that the
car might be tied to an
unsolved case.
