Monday, May 24

5:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a man came to her door, stated he was a Jehovah’s Witness, and started crying. When he was asked to leave, he did, but the caller neither heard nor saw a vehicle.

7:50 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of an injured or sick moose wandering around in circles in a yard.

7:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Extra patrols requested in the Boulder Park area due to late-night noise.

11:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 22, cited for no signal while passing.

2:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an unknown man breaking into a neighbor’s house turned out to be a misunderstanding. It was the owner’s brother.

5:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A person was locked inside Joynes Department Store. The owner was contacted to let him out.

Tuesday, May 25

11:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft from a locker at the school.

4:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree down and blocking one lane of Devil Track Road. Highway Department notified.

5:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Power line down and sparking near Round Lake. There were also reports of trees down on Sag Lake Trail and all over Clearwater Road.

10:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about kids “flying around” on Eighth Avenue West most of the evening. Nobody was around when a deputy arrived.

11:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his ex-girlfriend dumped an air conditioner in his yard and he doesn’t want it. The woman said it was his air conditioner and it has been sitting in her storage for a year, and she just gave it back to him. A deputy advised them that it is a civil matter.

Wednesday, May 26

8:09 a.m., Lutsen: Reported theft of a 120-gallon propane tank. Como removed it.

1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Parent reported that her son is truant and believes if he is found, he will have drugs on him.

2:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that her neighbor is shooting too close to the road.

8:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Portage man, 25, arrested on a St. Louis County warrant and booked into jail.

9:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A black lab that was running around on the beach all day near East Bay was picked up and taken to the pound.

Thursday, May 27

10:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he just received a phone call from a person asking him if he’s a sexual predator.

10:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Twig Bakery truck driver reported that an old truck loaded with firewood and brush passed him and some of the pieces fell out and hit his vehicle. There was damage to the grill and some of the pieces flew up underneath and took out the belt.

12:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.

1:59 p.m., Lutsen: Report that a 5th wheel appeared to be draining its septic tank along the highway.

5:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A vulnerable adult woman ok was hanging out in front of the Co-op was taken for something to eat and approved for Salvation Army assistance.

8:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Drug investigation.

Friday, May 28

11:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported an erratic driver heading west on Highway 61, just passed his vehicle in the Cascade State Park area and, kid you not, when he looked over to check out the driver, he saw only a border collie in the driver’s seat. It was a green boxy-type Honda vehicle.

3:27 p.m., Grand Marais: School bus stop arm violation in front of NAPA investigated.

5:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A loon was found at Kimball Creek campground wrapped up in fishing line. Conservation officer contacted.

6:00 p.m., Schroeder: Complaint about kids riding fourwheelers up and down Cramer Road all day long with loud mufflers, popping wheelies and speeding. A deputy spoke with them.

7:03 p.m., Grand Marais: A man was taken to detox after he wouldn’t move out when asked by his roommate.

8:34 p.m., Lutsen: Damage at the golf course was determined to be accidental.

Saturday, May 29

12:12 a.m., Grand Portage: A Ramsey man, 20, was picked up for possession of a controlled substance and held on an Anoka County warrant for careless driving.

10:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that he’s been watching a guy who is camped in a tent near him in the Rec Park, and there have been a lot of people going in and out of his tent.

10:36 p.m., Grand Marais: $23.54 gas drive-off from Holiday.

Sunday, May 30

12:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Small grass fire reported on Gull Lake Lane.

3:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a possible drunk driver ran the red light in town.

3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: A man, 70, went hiking on the Centennial Trail and had not returned nor been seen by other hikers.

5:08 p.m., Grand Marais: $42 gas drive-off from Super America.
