Tuesday, August 25
9:47 a.m. West Highway
61: Medical assistance
requested. Visiting female,
age 61, fell from a standing
position in the bathroom.
Experienced pain when
breathing and in lower
back. Transported to
North Shore Health in
Grand Marais.
10:27 a.m. Cramer Road:
Contract dispute. Parties
have a contract that states
clean fill can be dumped
at a gravel pit, but garbage
was being dumped. The pit
owner removed material
from the pit and was then
suppose to replace it with
clean fill. There was also
a dispute concerning the
property boundary.
10:42 a.m. East Fifth
Street: Public assistance.
Reporting party stated that
he has been dragged into
court and falsely arrested.
He went to court yesterday
and the judge stated
that he needs a psych
evaluation again. The man
feels that the county is
abusing him and his public
defender won’t let him talk.
12:09 p.m. West Highway
61: mask wearing
complaint. Person
reported that not all
workers at a local business
were wearing masks.
Investigation determined
that all employees were
wearing masks except one
person who had a face
shield on. The business
manager was notified
about the complaint.
Wednesday, August 26
6:36 a.m. County Road 14:
Electrical line problems.
Power line sparking,
not down but had audio
coming from it, directly
across from Scott Bluffs
Road. Arrowhead Electric
Cooperative linemen
contacted.
8:24 a.m. East Highway 61:
Vehicle complaint. New tar
was put down due to road
construction and a motor
home with trailer got stuck
in the tar. West bound
lane of traffic was blocked.
Minnesota State Patrol
advised of situation.
11:38 a.m. Moose Ridge
Road: Public assistance.
Caller wanted to know
about rifle rules and
regulations concerning
where and when people
can shoot. This past
weekend, they heard
about 200 rounds shot
off and it sounded close,
but was probably about a
quarter mile away. Party
was advised of the 500
foot rule, but also advised
that if Law Enforcement
is notified when it is
happening, they can
investigate and suggest
better options.
5:17 p.m. County Road
14: Neighbor dispute over
property lines. Caller
stated that their neighbor
is on the tree line and
cutting trees without
permission. A bulldozer is
there. Caller’s trees were
marked for cutting. Caller
stated that an easement
was requested and denied
by them and the other
neighbors. Parties were
advised that this is a civil
matter.
Thursday, August 27
6:59 a.m. West Highway
61: Theft. A woman
customer came in to pay
for cigarettes and coffee,
but didn’t have enough
money. She went out to
her car to get more money,
came back in, threw
change at the cashier,
grabbed the cigarettes
off the counter, and then
ran out screaming and
swearing. She was also
very rude to the other
customers and staff in the
store, very disrespectful.
The customer had not
paid the full amount for
her purchases. She was
located and escorted
back to the business. The
woman was informed that
she is not allowed back on
the property due to her
behavior toward staff and
customers.
9:37 a.m. West Fifth Street:
Juvenile trouble. Bullying
behavior observed at the
skate park: 12-13 year old
boys harassing 5 year old
kids. If they are available,
Deputies can help sort out
these problems and also
the Community Center
Manager.
Friday, August 28
11:50 a.m. East Highway
61: Intoxicated person
with firearm. A man was in
Judge Magney State Park,
his speech was slurred
and he thought that he
was still in Wisconsin.
He was wearing a firearm
on his hip and a colorful
Hawaiian shirt. Deputies
located the man and it was
determined that he had
two firearms: a Remington
770 rifle and a Remington
9mm lug pistol. He did
not have a Minnesota
Permit to Carry, so he
was brought to the Law
Enforcement Center.
11:50 a.m. West Highway
61: Drive-off from a gas
station. $38.14 not paid.
Sunday, August 30
11:05 a.m. Devil Track
Lake: South Shore Drive,
animal disturbance. Caller
reported that a bear was
on their property. The bear
broke an apple tree and ate
all the apples.
7:51 p.m. Grand Marais:
First Avenue East, person
lost/found. Caller reported
that their husband went
out on a solo hike and
was suppose to return by
6:30 p.m. Caller did not
know which trail husband
was on. Trailheads
were checked for his
vehicle at Lindskoog
Road, Pincushion,
Washington Memorial,
Kadunce, County Road
6, Arrowhead Trail, Pike
Lake Road, Cascade, etc.
Husband was located in
Judge Magney State Park.
8:35 p.m. East Highway
61: Medical assistance
requested. Hiker fell
down a cliff to the Brule
River in Judge Magney
State Park. Hiker could
be heard calling for help.
First responders located
the hiker and helped him
move down the river.
Hiker did not require
transport to North Shore
Health.
